スポルティングCPは1日、サンタ・クララの日本代表MF守田英正(27)を完全移籍で獲得することを発表した。契約期間は2026年6月30日までの4年間。契約解除金として4500万ユーロ(約63億4000万円)が設定されている。
流通経済大学から2018年2月に川崎フロンターレに加入した守田は、1年目からポジションを掴むと、ロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)後の2018年9月に日本代表デビューを果たす。
その後、日本代表には招集されなかったものの、クラブではアンカーとして絶対的な地位を築き、公式戦107試合に出場し2ゴール5アシストを記録。2021年1月にサンタ・クララへと完全移籍した。
サンタ・クララでは加入当初からチームの軸としてプレーすると、ここまで59合に出場し4ゴール3アシストを記録している。
スポルティングは言わずと知れたポルトガルの名門の1つ。2021-22シーズンもプリメイラ・リーガを2位で終えており、来シーズンのチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)出場が決定している。

ガブリエウがスポルティング戦で相手エースのゴールセレブレーション拝借…その意図とは?

プレミア昇格目指すバーンリーがスポルティングの10番MFエドワーズをレンタルで獲得、スパーズ時代の恩師パーカー監督が獲得熱望
