アルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシが8日、バルセロナで退団会見を行った。幼少期からバルセロナ一筋のキャリアを歩み、2004年のプロデビューから17年間にわたってクラブのアイコンであり続けたメッシ。クラブ史上最多となる35個のチームタイトルに寄与したが、両者は残念ながら別れることとなってしまった。

そのメッシは8日、愛する家族や苦楽を共にしてきたチームメイト、スタッフが見守る中で登壇。すると、感極まりすぐに涙を浮かべる事態となった。
チームメイトや関係者からは拍手が送られた中、妻のアントネラ・ロクソさんはメッシに近づき、ハンカチを手渡すことに。メッシは涙を拭い、退団への経緯や、今後のこと、バルセロナでの思い出などを語った。

涙の会見となった中、メッシファミリーはこれまで獲得した全てのトロフィーとともに記念撮影。ロクソさんはその記念写真を自身のインスタグラムへ投稿し、愛するクラブを離れ、新天地へと向かう愛する夫へのエールと愛を綴った。
「私たちが生活してきたこの数年間を数行でまとめることは、なんて難しいことでしょう。私たちの人生に永遠にその痕跡を残した、とても多くの感情があります」

「でも、ことわざにもあるように、死なないものは私たちを強くします」

「そして、家族をベースにして、これまで以上に力強く、またフィールドに出ていきます」

「どこに行くにも一緒!でも、いつだった前向きにね!! 最愛のあなた、愛してる」

ロクソさんにとっても、3人の息子にとっても驚きの結末となった今回の退団劇。どこに行くかはまだ決定していないが、それでも妻は愛する夫を力強く支えてくれそうだ。

メッシ 大好きなマテ茶のストローは7万円超えの特別仕様

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

「妻が決めること」引退から一転、バルサの窮地救い2冠目前のGKシュチェスニーが契約延長のオファーに言及

「プレミアで働きたい」チャビ氏が将来に言及、スペインで監督が置かれる状況にウンザリ「アンチェロッティに何が起きたか考えてほしい」

バルセロナの監督を退任して以降はフリーとなっているチャビ・エルナンデス氏。監督業に復帰することを望んでいる中、プレミアリーグでの指揮に関心があるようだ。 現役時代はバルセロナでプレーし、数々のタイトルを獲得。スペイン代表でもユーロとワールドカップを制するなど、レジェンドでもあるチャビ氏。引退後は、アル・サッド、バルセロナで指揮を執ったが、今シーズンからはフリーになっている。 そのチャビ氏は『The Athletic』のインタビューに応じ、監督業への想いを語った。 「急いではいないが、良いプロジェクトがほしい。『4年間かけてプロジェクトを育てろ』と言われるようなプロジェクトだ。プレミアリーグで働きたい。あの情熱が好きだからね。スペインでは結果がすべてだ」 バルセロナとレアル・マドリーの2強状態のラ・リーガにおいては、結果が全て。いくら成功を収めても、ライバルを下回るだけで多くの批判を受ける。 今シーズンもマドリーのカルロ・アンチェロッティ監督は、コパ・デル・レイで準優勝、ラ・リーガでは逆転優勝の可能性があるものの2位、チャンピオオンズリーグ(CL)は王者として臨んだ中でベスト8で敗退と、無冠に終わる可能性があり、CL敗退後には大きな批判を受けていた。 チャビ氏は「(カルロ・)アンチェロッティに何が起きたか考えてみてほしい。皆が彼を批判している。これは不公平だ。彼は10年間で30ものタイトルを獲得しているのに、まるで何も獲得していないかのように批判される」とコメント。「(アスレティック・クラブのエルネスト・)バルベルデ監督はそれを完璧に説明した。『アンチェロッティを批判するなら、残りの人たちに何の希望があるというのか?』 「スペイン、特にバルセロナとマドリーでのプレッシャーは非常に厳しい」とと語っている。 一方で、プレミアリーグではスペインよりは寛大な状況。チームを作り上げるためにクラブがプロジェクトを動かし、チェルシーやアーセナルの状況を引き合いに出した。 「(エンツォ・)マレスカが率いるチェルシーは良いプロジェクトだったし、(ミケル・)アルテタが率いるアーセナルも良いプロジェクトだ。アルテタにとっては6年目となり、難しいシーズンもあったが、クラブはプロセスを信じて継続した。スペインではそんなことは起こらない」 また、代表チームの指揮にも関心があるとのこと。ただ、今は急いではおらず、サッカーの試合を観戦して分析することも楽しいとした。 「スペイン代表は、なぜダメなのか? いや、他の代表チームでも構わない。急いでいるわけではないし、監督になりたい場所についても特にこだわりはない。サッカーを観戦して家族と一緒にいられるだけで幸せだ」 「今まで1日に観戦した試合の最多は8試合だ。チーム分析が好きなんだ。コンピューターに『アタランタ』を入れて、4試合続けて観戦することもある。なぜかって? バルサDFが相手に唾吐き行為? 一触即発状態も否定「彼に向けられたものではない」
