この時期になると毎年登場するアグリー・クリスマス・セーター。プレゼントやツリーの柄を過剰なまでに編み込んだ悪趣味さを逆に楽しもうとするもので、デザインの“ダサさ”が売りだ。
各クラブもエンブレムなどを施したダサセーターをこぞって販売している中、ベルギー代表も同アイテムを制作。選手たちがモデルとなって着用した。
撮影には、ケビン・デ・ブライネ、アクセル・ヴィツェルのほか、トルガンとエデンのアザール兄弟らも参加。下半身はベルギー代表のショーツにソックスというクールな装いながら、上半身にはこれでもかというほどダサいセーターをまとっている。
さらに、選手たちは2人組でポーズを取っているのだが、もう1人を膝の上に乗せて抱っこしたり、プレゼントを可愛らしく渡したりと面白おかしくポージング。キュート?な写真の数々には、「最高のクリスマスカードだ」、「ルカクがいないぞ」、「とっても可愛い」、「ツッコミどころが多い」、「突き抜けてる(笑)」と多くの反響が集まった。
なお、これらの写真が用いられたクリスマスカードはベルギー代表の公式サイトからダウンロードが可能だ。

ベルギーサッカー協会(KBVB)は18日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で着用する新ホームユニフォームを発表した。
2018年のロシアW杯ではベスト16で日本代表を破り、3位に輝いたベルギー。カタールW杯の欧州予選8試合も6勝2分と無敗で切り抜け、早々に本大会出場権を手にすると、本大会ではクロアチア代表、カナダ代表、モロッコ代表と同じグループFに組み分けられている。
これまで“赤い悪魔”の名で知られている男子チームのユニフォームをデザインし、“赤い炎”で知られる女子チームはその派生形のユニフォームを着用することが多かったベルギーだが、新しいホームユニフォームではサプライヤーのアディダスとともに女子チームの発展を支援することを念頭にデザインされている。
そのデザインは、赤をベースに袖の部分は黒に切り替わっている。また、肩のスリーストライプスは黄色で縁取られ、ベルギーのナショナルカラーである3色が表現されている。さらに、両腕にはダイナミックなグラフィックの炎のプリントがされているのも特徴だ。
ショーツに関しては黒が基調で、ソックスは黒を基調に炎をモチーフにしたデザインが施される。
デザインについては、「カッコイイ!」、「卓球部にしか見えない」、「トレーニングウェア感ある」と賛否。また「昔の日本代表みたい!」、「なんか見たことある」と1997年に日本代表が着用した炎のデザインが印象的なユニフォームを彷彿とさせるという意見もあった。
22日にUEFAネーションズリーグ2022-23のウェールズ戦、25日にオランダ戦が控えるベルギーの男子チームだが、このユニフォームはウェールズ戦で選手たちが初めて着用する予定だ。

マンチェスター・シティのベルギー代表MFケビン・デ・ブライネが子供の誕生日を祝福した。
シティが誇る世界屈指のプレーメーカーは、ミシェル・ラクロワさんと2017年6月に結婚。前年末のエッフェル塔前でのプロポーズは話題にもなった。
長男のメイソン・ミリアンくんは2016年3月10日に誕生。現在まで3人の子供を授かっている。
デ・ブライネは11日に自身のインスタグラムを投稿し、「うちの長男はもう7歳」と、成長した子供を肩車する写真を公開した。
ファンからも多数の祝福が寄せられるとともに、「いい家族写真」、「ブロンドなんだね」との声や、「ふくらはぎがすごい」、「彼もいいパスを供給するのかな」と、将来に期待するコメントも届いた。
11日のプレミアリーグ第27節クリスタル・パレス戦をアーリング・ハーランドのPK弾で制し、1日遅れながら長男に勝利をプレゼントしたデ・ブライネ。3児の父親としても奮闘しているようだ。

▽FIFA・U-17ワールドカップ(W杯)決勝のマリvsナイジェリアが8日に行われ、マリとのアフリカ勢対決を2-0で制したナイジェリアが2大会連続史上最多5度目の優勝を決めた。
▽大会初優勝を狙うマリと、連覇を狙う前大会王者のナイジェリアのアフリカ勢対決となった今回のファイナル。試合は開始直後の3分に相手のハンドでナイジェリアがいきなりPKを獲得する。だが、キッカーのMFエベレが右を狙ったシュートはGKサムエルに読まれてセーブされる。さらにこぼれ球をエベレが頭で押し込みにかかるが、これはクロスバーを叩き、開始早々の先制点とはならなかった。
▽その後は一進一退の攻防が続く中、試合はゴールレスのまま後半に突入。押し込みながらもゴールが遠いナイジェリアだったが、今大会9ゴールで得点王争いトップを独走するエースのFWオシムヘンが待望の先制点をもたらす。56分、ボックス右に抜け出したマドゥエケの折り返しをゴール前に走り込んだオシムヘンが右足ダイレクトでゴール右を破った。
▽エースの先制弾で勢いづくナイジェリアは、59分にもボックス左に侵攻したFWバムグボイェの見事な左足のシュートで瞬く間に点差を2点に広げた。その後、マリの反撃をクリーンシートで凌ぎ切ったナイジェリアが、圧倒的な強さで大会連覇を決めた。
▽また、同日行われたベルギーvsメキシコの3位決定戦は、3-2で勝利したベルギーが今大会を3位で終えた。
