欧州サッカー連盟(UEFA)は13日、2026年北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選の組み合わせ抽選会を実施した。
アメリカ、カナダ、メキシコの3カ国が共催する次のW杯。これまでの32カ国から、48カ国に出場国が増加し、規模が大きくなった初の大会となる。
アジア、南米、アフリカではすでにW杯予選がスタートしている中、ヨーロッパはUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)が開催されており、ここから本格的に予選がスタートする。
12のグループに分かれて行われる欧州予選。各グループの1位はW杯出場権を獲得。グループ2位の12カ国はプレーオフに進出し、その中から4カ国が出場権を獲得。ヨーロッパからは合計16カ国が出場することとなる。
UNLの準々決勝以降はまだ行われていないため、一部のグループは組み合わせが決まっていない中、確定しているグループもある。
イングランド代表はグループKに入り、5カ国で戦うことに。セルビア代表、アルバニア代表、ラトビア代表、アンドラ代表と同居した。
また、ベルギー代表はグループJに入り、ウェールズ代表、北マケドニア代表、カザフスタン代表、リヒテンシュタイン代表と同居している。
欧州予選は2025年3月から11月までの5回のインターナショナル・マッチウィークで行われることに。4カ国で組まれているグループAからFまでは9月まで予選が行われないこととなる。

イルハン・マンスズの名を覚えているだろうか。
今から20年前の2002年に日韓ワールドカップが開催。国中がサッカーに沸いた中、その中でもひと際注目を集めたのが、当時イングランド代表だったデイビッド・ベッカム氏だ。日本では“ベッカム・フィーバー”が巻き起こり、その髪型を模したモヒカンヘアーも流行った。
そして、もう1人“イケメン”として脚光を浴びたのがトルコ代表だったイルハンだ。
「イルハン王子」の愛称で女性を中心にファンを獲得し、テレビや雑誌でも特集がなされた。長髪をなびかせながら頭の上で髪の毛をとめるちょんまげスタイルにクシャっとした笑顔は多くの人のハートを撃ち抜いた。
ピッチの上でも、控えという立場ながら全7試合に出場すると、チーム最多の3得点をマーク。トルコの史上初の3位という結果に大きく貢献している。
そのイルハンは大会後の2004年にヴィッセル神戸へと加入。Jリーグでは負傷の影響もありほとんど出場機会もないまま、最終的には無断帰国という形での退団となったが、その意味でも記憶に残っている人はいるのではないだろうか。
現役引退後にはフィギュアスケーターへの転身も明らかになったイルハン。46歳になったイルハンのSNSを覗くとすっかり“イケオジ”になったようだ。
トルコ代表の公式SNSや現地のメディアなどは22日、「今から20年前、イルハンのゴールで代表が準決勝に進出」と当時を振り返っており、現地では、代表チームを史上初のW杯3位に導いた英雄として認識されているようだ。

12日に国際親善試合でトルコ代表と対戦した日本代表。SNS上では懐かしの名前で盛り上がることとなった。
トルコ戦の前にX(旧ツイッター)でトレンドに入ったのは「イルハン」というワード。これは元トルコ代表FWイルハン・マンスズ氏のことだ。
イルハン氏が初めて話題になったのは、2002年の日韓ワールドカップ(W杯)でのこと。日本中がサッカーに沸いた中、元イングランド代表MFデイビッド・ベッカム氏と並ぶ“イケメン”として脚光を浴びたのが「イルハン王子」ことイルハン氏だった。
日韓W杯では控えながらチーム最多の3得点をマークし、トルコの史上初の3位の大きく貢献。2004年にはヴィッセル神戸へと加入し、Jリーグではほとんど出場機会がなかったが、日本に大きなインパクトを与えていた。
トルコとの対決はその日韓W杯以来実に21年ぶりということもあり、12日にはイルハン氏を懐かしむ声が多数あがることに。トレンド入りまですることとなった。
なお、そんなイルハン氏は現在48歳。最新のインスタグラムでは、交際しているアゼルバイジャン人女性のレイラ・レーラさんが妊娠した子どもの性別が男の子だと明かしている。
そのニュースをトルコの複数メディアも伝えており、イルハン氏にとってはその男の子が20年ぶりの子どもになるとのこと。W杯3位の立役者の人気や知名度は健在のようだ。

トルコサッカー連盟(TFF) とナイキは18日、トルコ代表の新ユニフォームを発表した。
クロアチア代表やウェールズ代表らと同居したユーロ2024予選を首位で突破したトルコ。6月に開幕する本大会ではグループFに入り、ポルトガル代表やチェコ代表らと同居している。
そのトルコの新ユニフォームは、1923年の初めての代表戦で着用されたユニフォームからインスピレーションを得ているという。
白をベースとしたホームユニフォームは、胸元に太めの赤の横ラインが入り、ラインの上にトルコの国旗がデザインされている。赤のラインは真っ直ぐではなく若干の傾斜が加えられているが、これは1923年当時のユニフォームの再現。過去100年の誇りを現在に引き継ぐことを象徴している。
一方、赤をベースとしたアウェイユニフォームは伝統の色を忠実に再現。シャツの背面には、代表チームの精神を復活させ、心を一つにする感覚を活性化するべく、「Türkiye (トルコ)」の文字があしらわれている。
ただ、どちらもシンプルなデザインとなったことにファンは不満を抱えている。現行のユニフォームとの差もあまりないことから「本当に悲しい」、「努力はゼロだ」、「毎度同じだ」、「2分でできる」、「全然面白くない」、「何も変わってない」といった声が寄せられてしまっている状況だ。

トルコサッカー連盟(TFF)は24日、ユーロ2024に臨むトルコ代表候補メンバー35名を発表した。
3大会連続のユーロ出場となったトルコ。チームを率いるヴィンチェンツォ・モンテッラ監督は、GKメルト・ギュノクやDFメリフ・デミラル、MFハカン・チャルハノール、FWユスフ・ヤズジュ、FWジェンク・トスンら主力を順当に選出。
また、MFアルダ・ギュレル(レアル・マドリー)やFWケナン・ユルドゥズ(ユベントス)、MFジャン・ウズン(ニュルンベルク)、FWセミ・クルチソイ(ベシクタシュ)ら若手も選出された。
ユーロ2024でジョージア代表、ポルトガル代表、チェコ代表が同居するグループFに入ったトルコは、本大会を前に6月4日にイタリア代表と、10日にオランダ代表と国際親善試合で対戦する。
