欧州サッカー連盟(UEFA)は13日、2026年北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選の組み合わせ抽選会を実施した。
アメリカ、カナダ、メキシコの3カ国が共催する次のW杯。これまでの32カ国から、48カ国に出場国が増加し、規模が大きくなった初の大会となる。
アジア、南米、アフリカではすでにW杯予選がスタートしている中、ヨーロッパはUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)が開催されており、ここから本格的に予選がスタートする。
12のグループに分かれて行われる欧州予選。各グループの1位はW杯出場権を獲得。グループ2位の12カ国はプレーオフに進出し、その中から4カ国が出場権を獲得。ヨーロッパからは合計16カ国が出場することとなる。
UNLの準々決勝以降はまだ行われていないため、一部のグループは組み合わせが決まっていない中、確定しているグループもある。
イングランド代表はグループKに入り、5カ国で戦うことに。セルビア代表、アルバニア代表、ラトビア代表、アンドラ代表と同居した。
また、ベルギー代表はグループJに入り、ウェールズ代表、北マケドニア代表、カザフスタン代表、リヒテンシュタイン代表と同居している。
欧州予選は2025年3月から11月までの5回のインターナショナル・マッチウィークで行われることに。4カ国で組まれているグループAからFまでは9月まで予選が行われないこととなる。

元イングランド代表DFのウェイン・ブリッジ氏は、チェルシー時代に自身の元恋人と不倫関係にあった元イングランド代表DFのジョン・テリー氏を未だに許してないのかもしれない。イギリス『サン』が報じている。
ブリッジ氏とテリー氏は、同じ39歳でチェルシーとイングランド代表で共闘してきた親友だった。しかし、2010年1月にブリッジ氏が当時交際し、1人の息子をもうけていたヴァネッサ・プロンセルと、既婚のテリー氏に不倫疑惑が持ち上がり、両者の関係は完全に破綻。
この騒動がキッカケでテリー氏はイングランド代表キャプテンをはく奪され、ブリッジ氏も“不倫男”との共闘を望まず、代表辞退という重い決断を下していた。
さらに、不倫問題発覚後、初の直接対決となった試合では当時マンチェスター・シティに在籍していたブリッジ氏が、試合前の握手を拒否。さらに、シティのチームメイトだった元アルゼンチン代表FWカルロス・テベスが、得点直後にテリー氏の前に立ちはだかってブリッジ氏を指さすパフォーマンスを見せるなど、大きな話題をさらっていた。
その後、ブリッジ氏は2013年に現在の妻であるイギリス人歌手のフランキーサンド・フォードさんと結婚し、2人の息子を授かっている。
その事件から10年が経った今年に入って両氏は、再びメディアの話題に挙がることに。
『サン』が伝えるところによれば、テリー氏は今年4月にロンドン近郊のサリーに430万ポンド(約6億円)の邸宅を購入し、すでに引っ越しも済ませているという。
そして、その新居から数分の距離にはブリッジ氏と家族が住む550万ポンド(約7億6000万円)の邸宅があった。
しかし、同メディアによると、ブリッジ夫妻はテリー氏の引っ越しが原因かは不明なものの、現在その自宅を売りに出しているという。
この動きに関してある関係者は、「ウェインとジョンは明らかに最高の友人とは言えない。今は不動産市場に不確実性があるが、ウェインとフランキーは新たなスタートを求めている。そして、現在の場所から少し離れた場所に引っ越しをすることを決めた」と、説明している。
今回の引っ越しは単なる偶然の可能性が高そうだが、ブリッジはやはり“不倫男”を許していないのか…。

データおよびテクノロジーにおけるリーディングカンパニーの「ニールセン・グレースノート」が、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)に出場する選手のインフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表した。
なでしこジャパンも出場する女子W杯。開幕までおよそ1カ月となった中で、各国の出場選手も決定している。
「ニールセン・グレースノート」は出場する選手の中での、インフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表。フォロワーやフォロワーの増加、エンゲージメント率など、インスタグラム上の投稿ごとの平均ブランド価値を評価してランキングを発表した。
トップ10が発表され、実に9カ国の選手がランクイン。アメリカ女子代表のみが唯一2選手がランクインしている。
1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。
アストン・ビラでは2シーズンでFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)で43試合に出場し7ゴール。スイス代表としても38キャップを記録している。
2位には、バルセロナのエースでありスペイン女子代表のエースでもあるMFアレクシア・プテジャス。フォロワーは280万人であり、1位のレーマンがどれほどのフォロワーを抱えているかがわかる。
2シーズン連続でUEFA年間最優秀女子選手、バロンドールを受賞。2021年にはFIFA最優秀女子選手賞を受賞している。

イングランドサッカー協会(FA)とナイキは18日、イングランド代表の新ユニフォームを発表した。
ガレス・サウスゲイト監督のもと、2018年のロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)はベスト4、2021年のユーロ2020は準優勝、2022年のカタール・ワールドカップはベスト8と、一定の成績を残し続けているイングランド。6月に開幕するユーロ2024の出場権も獲得し、スロベニア代表、デンマーク代表、セルビア代表と同居するグループCに入っている。
そのユーロでも着用する新ユニフォームだが、ホームユニフォームはクラシックなデザインに。遠目で見ると白の無地に見えるが、薄っすらと同色のストライプがデザインされている。
袖口には、過去の代表のトレーニングウェアからヒントを得たという、ネイビー、青、赤の3色のラインが入っており、ネイビーの襟の裏側にはイングランドの国旗をアレンジしたものがあしらわれた。
一方のアウェイユニフォームは、過去の代表の象徴的なユニフォームを現代的にアレンジし、目を引くパープルで大胆に主張。シャツのサイドにはイングランドのファッションにちなんだという7色で構成されたラインが入っているほか、襟の裏にはイングランドの国旗をサイドのラインと同じ7色であしらった。
イングランド代表の新ユニフォームは「クラシックで最高」、「買うしかない」、「最高にクール」と好評の声が多いが、アウェイは紫色という意外なカラーだったこともあり「美しい色だ」、「アウェイは赤であるべきだ」、「初めてじゃないか」、「その色のチョイスはなしだ」と意見が分かれている。

ヨーロッパでもついに始まった2026年北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)アジア最終予選。そんな中、イングランド代表のユニフォームが話題となっている。
トーマス・トゥヘル監督が新たに就任したイングランド。予選では、ホームにアルバニア代表を迎え、2-0で勝利を収めた。
トゥヘル監督にとっての初陣であり、W杯予選の初戦でしっかりと勝利したイングランド。そんな中、ユニフォームの変化が話題を呼んでいた。
イングランドのキットを使用しているイングランド。ユーロ2024から継続して使われているユニフォームは、前面の中央に選手の背番号が示されていた。
しかし、アルバニア戦では、右胸のナイキのロゴの下に背番号がついており、この変化にファンが注目。何かを示しているのではないかと憶測が広がった。
SNS上でも話題となったこの事象だが、イングランド代表のベテランキットマンである、パット・フロスト氏が理由を説明。ただのミスだと認めた。
あるファンがX(旧ツイッター)上でフロスト氏に問いかけると、返信で「1枚目のユニフォームのプリントをした時に間違った位置にしてしまった。だから、全部同じ場所で印刷する必要があった」とコメント。「月曜日にいつもの場所に戻した。気づいてくれてありがとう」と、ラトビア代表戦では元の位置に戻るとした。
なんとも激レアなユニフォームとなった今回の一件。フロスト氏は、2003年からイングランドサッカー協会(FA)で働いており、男子、女子のユースチームからスタートし、現在はA代表のキットマンにまで昇進。ベテランでも凡ミスを起こしてしまうことはあるようだ。
