ロシアのディナモ・モスクワは1日、アシスタントコーチを務めていたアンドレイ・ヴォロニン氏(42)の退任を発表した。
ヴォロニン氏は、現役時代はボルシアMGやレバークーゼン、リバプールなどで活躍。ディナモ・モスクワで現役を引退していた。
また、ウクライナ代表として活躍し、英雄でもあるアンドリー・シェフチェンコ氏の相棒としても知られたヴォロニン氏。代表では74試合で8ゴールを記録していた。
両者合意の下での契約解除という形でチームを去ったが、その背景にはロシアによるウクライナへの軍事侵攻が。その心情をドイツ『ビルト』のインタビューで明かしていた。
ヴォロニン氏は2020年10月からアシスタントコーチとなっていたが、今回の攻撃が始まったことでロシアからの脱出を図ったという。
「完全に閉鎖される前、定期便でモスクワを出た。ただ、デュッセルドルフ空港に着陸することはできなかった。アムステルダム経由となった」
「手術したばかりの父、義理の母、妻、そして子供達とここにいる。小さな子供達は、モスクワのドイツ語学校に通っていた。でも今は学校は関係ない」
「私はこの4日間、体調が悪い。本当に酷い。故郷の写真を見るとき、ニュースを見るとき。まるで映画のように、非現実的だ。でも、ホラー映画だ。ほとんど言葉にできない」
また、ロシアとウクライナの関係についても言及。「私と他の多くのウクライナ人はロシアに友達がいる。そして、彼らには我々と同様に友達や親戚がいる。ただ、彼らは我々を攻撃し、プーチンは私の国を攻撃する。すでに多くの人が亡くなっている」とコメント。友好関係が多い中でも攻撃をされたことに憤りを感じており、「祖国を爆撃している国ではもう働けない」とロシアで活動を続けることは無理だとした。
ドイツへと脱出したヴォロニン。家族も一緒に脱出し、一旦は安全になったが、自身がウクライナにいたら戦っていただろうとした。
「それでも私の考えと心はウクライナにある。私の故郷であるオデッサのハリコフ、キエフに友達がいる。5分ごとにメッセージが届く。耐え難い。助けたいだけだ。お金でね。どんなものでも...そして私がこれを言うべきかどうかはわからない。ただ、私が今ウクライナにいたら、私もおそらく手に銃を持っていただろう」
