ドイツサッカー連盟(DFB)は9日、ヴォルフスブルクに所属するブラジル人DFパウロ・オタビオに対し、4試合の出場停止処分を科したことを発表した。
オタビオは6日に行われたブンデスリーガ第24節のホッフェンハイム戦に左サイドバックとして先発出場。1点ビハインドで迎えた後半アディショナルタイムに、相手FWモアネス・ダブールに対し、後方からの極めて無謀な両足タックルを敢行し、レッドカードを提示されていた。
ブンデスリーガで3位に付けるヴォルフスブルクは今後、シャルケ戦、ブレーメン戦、ケルン戦、そしてチャンピオンズリーグ出場権を争うフランクフルト戦を戦うが、レギュラー左サイドバックのオタビオを欠いて戦うこととなった。

オタビオは6日に行われたブンデスリーガ第24節のホッフェンハイム戦に左サイドバックとして先発出場したものの、2-1の1点ビハインドで迎えた後半アディショナルタイムに、相手FWモアネス・ダブールに対し極めて無謀なタックルを敢行し、レッドカードを提示されていた。
このプレーは、CKのチャンスでヴォルフスブルクのGKを含む全員がゴール前に上がっており、それを跳ね返されてのカウンターでダブールが無人のゴールに直進。オタビオのタックルがボールに届く可能性は低く、実際に相手の足を挟む格好になったため、オタビオに対しては非難が殺到していた。
幸い、ダブールに大きなケガはなかったが、オタビオは試合後、自身のインスタグラムでこのプレーについて言及した。
「今日は僕の人生でイレギュラーな日だった。何を言うべきか分からないけど、僕を支えてくれるすべての人々への敬意のため、僕は言います」
