1日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)グループスE最終戦で日本はスペイン代表と対戦。劇的な逆転勝利を収め、グループ首位でベスト16入りを決めていた。
ドイツ代表戦に続いてのアップセットは世界中を驚かせた他、逆転ゴールに繋がった三笘薫の折り返しのシーンがラインを割っていたかどうかが大きな議論を呼ぶことに。国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)が公式見解を示すほどにまで発展していた。
今大会では日本人サポーターが世界中でバズることが多く、ドイツ戦前にFIFAの公式映像に映ったことで、世界中で美女サポーターだと大騒ぎになったSHONOさん、ドイツ戦で「私のボスへ。2週間の休暇を取らせてくれてありがとうございます!」と紙に書いた上、上司から返事をもらった男性サポーターなどがいた。

テレビ神奈川の田中碧アナウンサーの結婚発表にサッカーファンもどよめいた。
田中アナは18日、自身のSNSを更新。「さきほどLOVEかわさきでもお伝えしたとおり3月末をもって番組を卒業、tvkを退社します。また、昨年桜の季節に結婚しました」と報告。出演番組で発表した退社に加え、結婚していたことを発表した。
デュッセルドルフの日本代表MF田中碧と漢字が同じ田中アナ。読みはたなかあおいだが、2020年には川崎フロンターレ時代の田中碧との夢の対談も実現していた。
田中アナの結婚発表には、「確かに一瞬ビビった(笑)」、「田中碧選手結婚したかとおもたら別人やた」、「びっくりしたーーーーーーーーーー碧氏いきなりアナウンサーと結婚したのかと思った」と勘違いしたサッカーファンもいたようだ。

2021年12月に横浜F・マリノスからセルティックにレンタル移籍で加入した前田は、すぐに主力になるとスコティッシュ・プレミアシップ制覇に貢献。完全移籍となった昨シーズンもスコティッシュ・プレミアシップ、スコティッシュカップ、スコティッシュリーグカップの国内3冠獲得に大きく貢献した。
また、ブレンダン・ロジャース新監督が就任した今シーズンも、ここまでリーグ戦9試合で2ゴール2アシストをマーク。10月の日本代表メンバーからはケガで離脱していたが、22日のハーツ戦でもゴールを決めている。
その前田は20日に26歳の誕生日を迎え、自身のインスタグラムを更新。愛娘との2ショットを添え、「26歳も楽しく頑張ります」と意気込みを綴った。
前田の誕生日報告には、日本代表のチームメイトであるMF田中碧、DF板倉滉、DF橋岡大樹、MF鎌田大地、MF守田英正、MF伊東純也、FW浅野拓磨、DF菅原由勢など多くの選手たちからも祝福のコメントが寄せられていた。
そんな中、FC町田ゼルビアのブラジル人FWエリキだけは違った反応を見せることに。「26 ブラジル人を騙すな」と冗談交じりに怒っていたのだ。
実は、この「ブラジル人を騙すな」という言葉は、2人が横浜FMでプレーしていた2020年にもエリキが前田へとかけていた言葉。
DFチアゴ・マルチンスから年齢を問われた前田は、本当の年齢である「22」と答えていたが、その貫禄ある風貌のためか信じてもらうことができず、チアゴ・マルチンスからは「嘘をつくな!」と、エリキからは「ブラジル人を騙すな!」とツッコまれ、話題となっていた。
前田が26歳になってもまだ信じられない様子のエリキだが、前田が「騙してごめんよ」と冗談交じりに返信すると、エリキは「愛してるよ、会いたいよ」と久々の再会を願っていた。

日本代表のMF堂安律(フライブルク)が私服でのオフショットを投稿して話題となっている。
3月の2026年北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)アジア2次予選に臨む日本のメンバーに選ばれていた堂安。北朝鮮代表との連戦に臨む予定だったなか、国立競技場で行われた21日の試合には先発出場して74分までプレー。決勝点となったMF田中碧(デュセルドルフ)のゴールにも絡んだ。
その後、アウェイの平壌で開催予定だった試合は中止となって活動を終えた日本。堂安は25日にインスタグラムを更新し、「思わぬオフでしたが少しリフレッシュできました。今シーズン残り8試合頑張ります」とクラブでの意気込みを綴った。
堂安は、アースカラーのカーディガンと『LOEWE(ロエベ)』のビッグロゴが目立つジーンズを着用した私服のオフショットを投稿。ファンからは「やばーーーい流石にかっこよすぎる!!!」、「私服かっこよすぎ」、「LOEWE似合ってる」、「オフスタイルもカッコイイ!!」といった絶賛の声が寄せられることとなった。
代表合流前のクラブの試合では、今シーズンのリーグ3点目もマークしていた堂安。シーズン終盤のさらなる活躍にも期待がかかる。

プレミアリーグ昇格を目指すリーズ・ユナイテッド。来シーズンに向けて、日本代表MF田中碧の相棒を補強する可能性が出ているようだ。
今シーズンはチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)を戦うリーズ。熾烈なプレミアリーグ昇格争いを繰り広げており、優勝も争っている状況だ。
まだ昇格を逃す可能性すらある状況だが、リーズは来シーズンに向けての補強にボランチを考えているとのこと。ドイツ『スカイ・スポーツ』によれば、その選手はボルシアMGの元ドイツ代表MFユリアン・ヴァイグル(29)とのことだ。
ヴァイグルは1860ミュンヘン、ドルトムント、ベンフィカでプレー。2022年9月にボルシアMGにレンタル移籍で加入すると、2023年7月に完全移籍に切り替わった。
ボルシアMGでは公式戦通算89試合で3ゴール6アシスト。今シーズンはキャプテンも務め、ブンデスリーガで28試合に出場し2アシストを記録している。
ボランチでプレーするヴァイグルは、リーズを指揮するダニエル・ファルケ監督によってボルシアMGに加入した選手であり、田中とのダブルボランチも可能性がある。
ただ、ボルシアMGとの契約は2028年夏までとなっており、移籍金は高額になる可能性が。現時点では具体的な話には発展していないが、若くしてその才能が認められたヴァイグルは、プレミアリーグでプレーするというキャリアの目標を諦めていないとされ、リーズがプレミアリーグに昇格すれば実現の可能性はありそうだ。
