マンチェスター・シティのブラジル代表GKエデルソンが、今回のバロンドール受賞者に関して自身の見解を示した。
先日に発表されたバロンドール最終候補者には、2003年以来リオネル・メッシとクリスティアーノ・ロナウドがノミネートされず、その受賞者に注目が集まる。
とりわけ、過去20年間でその2選手以外で受賞したのはルカ・モドリッチとカリム・ベンゼマのみとなっており、今回の受賞者は初受賞となる。
そんななか、プレミアリーグ4連覇を果たしたシティでは昨年の投票で2位になったアーリング・ハーランドと、スペイン代表としてユーロ2024も制した最有力候補の一人、ロドリにルベン・ディアスとフィル・フォーデンの4選手がノミネートしている。
だが、シティの守護神は今回の賞を誰が受賞すべきかとの問いに対して、クラブのチームメイトではなく、代表のチームメイトであるレアル・マドリーのヴィニシウス・ジュニオールの名前を挙げた。
エデルソンは『TNT Sports Brazil』のインタビューで「僕はヴィニシウス・ジュにオールがバロンドールを受賞することを応援している。彼が受賞することを願っているよ」と、クラブの同僚ではなく同胞の受賞を推した。
ヴィニシウスに関しては先日にバロンドール内定報道も出ており、28日にパリで行われる授賞式ではエデルソンの望み通りの形となりそうだ。
なお、一部のイギリスメディアでは今回のエデルソンのコメントがシティのドレッシングルームに論争を巻き起こすとも報じているが、選手間ではこういった話題は慣れっこであり、その関係性に問題が生じることはないはずだ。

イタリア『トゥットスポルト』は17日、2024年のゴールデンボーイ賞候補25名を発表した。同賞はヨーロッパのクラブでプレーする、最も活躍した21歳以下の選手に贈られる。
昨年はレアル・マドリーのイングランド代表MFジュード・ベリンガムが受賞。2022年はバルセロナのスペイン代表MFガビ、2021年はバルセロナのスペイン代表MFペドリ、2020年はノルウェー代表FWアーリング・ハーランド(マンチェスター・シティ)と錚々たる面々が受賞している。

マンチェスター・シティのノルウェー代表FWアーリング・ハーランドが、アーセナル戦で物議を醸したプレーについて口を開いた。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えている。
ハーランドが振り返ったのは、9月に行われたプレミアリーグ第5節のアーセナル戦。プレミアリーグの頂上決戦として注目されたこの一戦は、前半にリードしたアーセナルに退場者が出ると、その後は徹底して守りを固める展開に。それでも後半アディショナルタイム、シティのジョン・ストーンズによる劇的同点弾で2-2のドローとなった。
この同点ゴール直後、興奮したハーランドは立ち尽くしていたアーセナルのDFガブリエウ・マガリャンイスの後頭部目掛けてボールを投げつけ。これはビデオ・アシスタント・レフェリー(VAR)にチェックされたが、暴力行為には該当しないという判断からレッドカードは出されず、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)も追加の処分はなしとした。
アーセナルOBのイアン・ライト氏からは「卑怯者の行為」と非難されたハーランドだが、現在も特に後悔はしていないとコメント。あくまで試合内での出来事だったと振り返っている。
「僕は人生において後悔することがあまりないんだ。あれはその場の勢いだったし、あの試合ではいろいろなことが起きたからね。ピッチで起きたことは、ピッチに留まる。そういうものさ」
なお、この件についてはガブリエウ側も特に気にしていない様子であり、『TNTスポーツ』に対しては「特に覚えていない。挑発的な行為をするのは普通のことで、試合の一部だ。今、この話は終わった」と語っている。

加入1年目で驚異的な活躍を見せたマンチェスター・シティのノルウェー代表FWアーリング・ハーランド。そのガールフレンドの姿が話題を呼んでいる。
ドルトムントから今シーズン加入したハーランド。プレミアリーグでは驚愕の36ゴールを記録し、1シーズンの歴代最多得点記録を更新。悲願の優勝を果たしたチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)でも12ゴールを記録して得点王に輝くなど、チームの“トレブル(3冠)”に大きく貢献した。
まさに怪物ぶりを発揮したハーランド。CLの公式インスタグラムが優勝した後の姿を公開したが、そこではガールフレンドとのラブラブなシーンが収められていた。
ハーランドのガールフレンドは、かつてサッカーもプレーしていた18歳のイザベル・ヨハンセンさん。ノルウェーで出会い、今ではハーランドの試合を各地へ観戦に訪れているとのこと。CL決勝も当然現地で観戦し、試合後には家族と共に記念撮影にも写っていた。
CLの公式アカウントは、優勝決定後、ピッチ上で椅子に座っているハーランドにノルウェー国旗を掲げて近づくイザベルさんの姿を投稿。徐に近づくと、国旗で隠しながらハーランドにキスしているようだ。
しかし、どうやら撮られているとは思っていなかったようで、その後カメラに気がつき恥ずかしげに顔を背けるイザベルさん。ファンはこの動画に大きく反応した。
「彼は人生の勝ち組だ」、「彼女はシャイなんだ」、「ピッチ外でもゴールを決めている」、「試合後にも勝利している」、「羨ましいぞ」、「恥ずかしがるのが良い」と羨ましがるコメントが集まっている。
