かつて日本代表監督を務めたジーコ氏が、アスルクラロ沼津の中山雅史監督と再会している。
1991年に来日し、住友金属(現:鹿島アントラーズ)に加入して4シーズンプレー、常勝軍団の礎を築いたジーコ氏。引退後には鹿島のテクニカルダイレクター(TD)、総監督も務め、2002年からは日本代表の監督も務めた。
その後は他国を拠点に活動していたが、2018年7月に鹿島のTDに復帰すると、2022年からはクラブアドバイザーとして活躍。シーズンに2度来日している。
今シーズン2度目の来日中のジーコ氏だが、今は監督となったかつての教え子のもとも訪れたようだ。
23日、沼津はクラブの公式X(旧ツイッター)を更新。22日に愛鷹広域公園多目的競技場で行われた明治安田生命J3リーグ第32節の松本山雅FC戦で、ジーコ氏と中山監督が再会している様子を公開している。
現役時代、1998年のフランス・ワールドカップ(W杯)と2002年の日韓W杯でプレーした中山監督は、ジーコジャパンでも4試合でプレー。その後はケガの影響もありそれが日本代表としての最後の試合となっていたが、2004年の「新潟県中越地震復興チャリティーマッチ がんばれ新潟!」ではジーコジャパン・ドリームチームの一員としてプレーしていた。
そのジーコ氏も見守った一戦で沼津は松本に3-1で快勝。リーグ2連勝を飾っていた。
ジーコ氏は試合後にインスタグラムを更新。鹿島で育成部長などを務めていたこともある沼津の高島雄大社長らとのつながりで観戦が実現したことを明かしている。
