元コートジボワール代表のコロ・トゥーレ氏(41)が、ウィガンで初の監督業を務めることになりそうだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が報じている。
現役時代にアーセナルやマンチェスター・シティ、リバプールなどで活躍したコロ・トゥーレ氏は、2017年夏にセルティックで引退し、そのまま当時の指揮官だったブレンダン・ロジャーズの下でアシスタントコーチに就任。現在はそのロジャーズ監督とともにレスター・シティで同職を務めている。
そんなコロ・トゥーレ氏に監督就任のオファーを出しているのが、チャンピオンシップで22位に沈むウィガン。同クラブは10日に2020年夏から監督を務め、昨季はリーグ1(イングランド3部)優勝に導いたリーム・リチャードソンを解任し、来月中旬のリーグ再開に向けて後任を探しているところ。
候補としては、コロ・トゥーレ氏の弟であるヤヤ・トゥーレ氏も挙がっていたようだ。同氏は現在、トッテナムのアカデミーでコーチを務めている。
