東京オリンピック、2021年7月23日開幕で合意

延期が決定していた東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの新たな日程が決定した。

30日、国際オリンピック委員会(IOC)、国際パラリンピック委員会(IPC)、東京2020組織委員会、東京都、および日本政府が、延期が決定していた東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの新たな日程で合意したとのこと。オリンピックは2021年7月23日〜8月8日まで、パラリンピックは8月24日〜9月5日まで行われることとなる。

IOCによると、30日にIOCのトーマス・バッハ会長、東京オリンピック・パラリンピック組織委員会の森喜朗会長、東京都の小池百合子知事、橋本聖子オリンピック・パラリンピック担当大臣が電話会議を行い、新しいスケジュールで合意に至ったとのことだ。

東京オリンピック・パラリンピックについては、世界中で蔓延する新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)の急速な感染拡大を受け、世界各国のアスリートがトレーニングを行えないなどの事態に陥っていたこと、また、感染拡大が終息傾向にないことから、24日に安倍晋三首相とバッハIOC会長らが電話会議を行い、延期する方向で合意していた。
