9月10日に敵地で行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)アジア2次予選初戦でミャンマー代表を2-0で退け、白星スタートを切った日本。10月は2試合の2次予選が組まれており、10日に埼玉スタジアム2002でモンゴル代表と対戦後、続く15日にタジキスタン代表とのアウェイゲームに挑む。

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン
