マンチェスター・ユナイテッドがリールに所属するコートジボワール代表FWニコラ・ペペ(23)の獲得に向けて交渉を開始したようだ。イギリス『デイリー・レコード』が伝えている。

昨シーズン、リールの1部残留に貢献したペペは、今シーズンにセンターフォワードから本職の右ウイングに固定され、圧倒的なスプリント能力、ドリブルテクニックを武器に躍動。ここまでリーグ戦36試合に出場し20ゴール11アシストの圧巻の数字を記録している。

この活躍にペペの評価は急上昇しており、今夏の移籍市場では一躍注目株に。現時点でバイエルン、ユナイテッド、パリ・サンジェルマン、アーセナル、チェルシー、バルセロナらが関心を示している。

すでにリールのジェラール・ロペス会長が今夏の退団の可能性を認めているペペに関して、プレミアリーグの移籍市場に精通するイングランド人ジャーナリスト、ダンカン・キャッスルズ氏は、ユナイテッドが同選手獲得に向けてリール側に公式な問い合わせを行ったと報じている。

また、ペペの有力な新天地とされるバイエルンが、マンチェスター・シティのドイツ代表MFレロイ・ザネ獲得に動いていることを理由に、ユナイテッドにも獲得のチャンスがあると見ているようだ。

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任
