プレミア無敗優勝立役者の1人がU-21イングランド代表コーチ就任へ

▽かつてイングランド代表で活躍し、アーセナルの無敗優勝の立役者でもあったソル・キャンベル氏(44)が、U-21イングランド代表のコーチに就任することになるようだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が報じた。

▽現役時代はトッテナムやアーセナルなどで活躍し、イングランド代表の最終ラインを支えたキャンベル氏。2016年から指揮を執る、エイディー・ブースロイド監督(47)の下、コーチに就任するようだ。

▽指導者としてのキャリアを築きたいキャンベル氏にとっては、この上ない契約となるが、11月まではチームに帯同しないと見られている。

▽現在、U-21イングランド代表は、来夏インタリアとサンマリノで行われるU-21欧州選手権の予選を戦っており、出場権を獲得するにはあと1ポイントが必要。今月行われるアンドラ、スコットランドとの予選で出場が決定することが見込まれている。

▽キャンベル氏は、11月に予定されているドイツ、イタリアとの国際親善試合から合流すると見られているようだ。

▽トッテナムで主力として活躍し、“禁断”の移籍を果たしたアーセナルでは、2003-04シーズンにはプレミアリーグ無敗優勝を達成。イングランド代表としてもワールドカップやユーロを経験したキャンベル氏は、イングランド代表の若手選手の手助けになるだろう。

エゴと献身性の相反する能力を持ち合わせたアフリカ最高のストライカー、サミュエル・エトー

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
