チェルシーは15日、2024-25シーズンの新ユニフォームを発表した。
2024-25シーズンはエンツォ・マレスカ監督を新たに迎え、再スタートを図るチェルシー。近年は大きな投資をして選手を補強しているものの、肝心のフットボール面がピリッとせずに苦しいシーズンが続いている。
再び監督を交代し、チームの立て直しを図りにいく中、サプライヤーのナイキと共に発表した新ユニフォームは大胆な新デザインとなった。
新たなエネルギー、新たな情熱、そして新たな熱意をもたらす新体制のチェルシー。目玉は鮮やかな青色で、炎の最も熱い部分と、ピッチ内外での成功という共通の野望のもとでクラブ全体を団結させる燃えるような情熱を象徴している。
また、ユニークなタッチを加えるオレンジ色のアクセントカラーは、クラブのランクに湧き上がる異なる種類の情熱を表している。
炎の揺らぎのような波を打つデザインだが、現地のファンからは酷評が殺到。「これまでで最悪のキット」、「過去20年で最悪だ」、「ひどすぎる」、「ナイキはやめた方が良い」、「深刻な問題」、「コンセプトは良いがデザインは最悪」、「本気なのか?」、「選手はもっと似合うと思っていたけど…」、「炎にしたら本当に燃えてしまう」と、厳しい声が集まってしまった。

チェルシーのエンツォ・マレスカ監督が8日に行われ、1-0で勝利したUEFAカンファレンスリーグ(ECL)の準決勝2ndレグのユールゴーデン戦を振り返った。
アウェイでの1stレグで4-1と快勝したチェルシーは、この試合も立ち上がりから主導権を握ると38分にジョージの縦パスに反応したデューズバリー=ホールがボックス内まで切り込みシュート。左ポストに当たったボールがゴールに吸い込まれた。
1点リードで迎えた後半はユールゴーデンの反撃に遭うも、ゴールを許さなかったチェルシーはそのまま1-0で勝利。2戦合計スコア5-1で決勝進出を決めた。
試合後インタビューを受けたマレスカ監督は、決勝へ駒を進めた選手たちの戦いぶりを称賛した。

マンチェスター・シティは4日、フアン・マヌエル・リージョ氏(57)がバックルームスタッフに加わる旨を発表した。
母国スペインを中心に指導者キャリアを紡ぎ、かつてヴィッセル神戸の監督も歴任したリージョ氏。2020年6月にアシスタントコーチとしてシティのコーチ陣に入閣したが、昨夏にアル・サッドを率いるために退団した。
それから1年が経ち、指導者の腕を極めるにあたって自身を師とも仰ぐジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督のもとに戻ってくる格好に。グアルディオラ監督もリージョ氏の再加入を歓迎した。

チェルシーは1日、バルセロナのU-19スペイン代表FWマルク・ギウ(18)を完全移籍で獲得したことを発表した。
契約期間は5年間で1年間の延長オプションもついているという。
マルク・ギウはバルセロナのカンテラ育ちで、187cmの大型ストライカー。バルサ・アトレティックに在籍していたが、2023-24シーズンはラ・リーガで3試合1ゴール、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)でも2試合1ゴールを記録していた。
また、U-17スペイン代表としては2023年のU-17欧州選手権で得点王にも輝いていた。
新シーズンはエンツォ・マレスカ監督が指揮を執ることが決まっているチェルシー。ギウは今回の移籍を受けて喜びを語っている。

チェルシーに加入したイングランド人MFキーナン・デューズバリー=ホールが、古巣であるレスター・シティへの感謝を述べた。
レスターのアカデミー出身であるデューズバリー=ホールは、2020年にファーストチームデビュー。昨季はチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)に降格したレスターで中盤の軸として活躍し、公式戦49試合12得点15アシストの成績を残した。
1年でのプレミアリーグ復帰を果たしたレスターだが、指揮官のエンツォ・マレスカ監督はチェルシーに引き抜かれる形で退任。デューズバリー=ホールにもチェルシーからオファーが届き、2日に移籍金3000万ポンド(約61億2000万円)での完全移籍が発表された。
アカデミー時代から過ごしたレスターを離れる決断を下したデューズバリー=ホール。自身のインスタグラムを更新しており、ファンのサポートへの感謝を綴っている。
