リバプールのトレント・アレクサンダー=アーノルドに、新たな恋人ができたようだ。
リバプールのアカデミー育ちであり、ファーストチーム昇格後は絶対的な右サイドバックとして数多くのトロフィーを獲得してきたアレクサンダー=アーノルド。今シーズンも、新たに就任したアルネ・スロット監督の下で守備の安定感が増しており、現在は負傷中もここまで公式戦15試合2アシストを記録している。
一方で、リバプールとの契約は今シーズン限りとなっていながら契約交渉は遅々として進まず。レアル・マドリーからの強い関心が示されるなど、去就は極めて不透明な状況となっている。
そんなアレクサンダー=アーノルドだが、私生活は非常に順調な様子。かねてより交際が伝えられていたアイリス・ロウさん(ハリウッド俳優・ジュード・ロウの娘)とは破局してしまったが、新たな恋人の存在が報じられている。
その相手とは、インスタグラムでモデルを務めるエステル・ベンケさん。イギリス『ミラー』によると、2人はマンチェスター市中心部のクリスマスマーケットを訪れたり、コッツウォルズにあるコテージホテルで過ごしたりするなど、仲睦まじい姿を見せているようだ。
現在はハムストリングの負傷で離脱しているアレクサンダー=アーノルド。リバプールとしては、新恋人と充実した時間を過ごすことで、しっかり英気を養ってもらいたいところだろう。

ヨーロッパリーグ(EL)の舞台で実現した兄弟対決。それぞれが、対戦を振り返った。ポルトガル『O Jogo』が伝えた。
5日、ELグループE 第2節でリバプールとロイヤル・ユニオン・サン=ジロワーズが対戦。リバプールの日本代表MF遠藤航とサン=ジロワーズの日本代表DF町田浩樹はともに先発出場し、日本人対決が実現した。
試合は44分にライアン・グラフェンベルフ、92分にジオゴ・ジョタがゴールを決めてリバプールが2-0で勝利したが、この試合では兄弟対決が実現した。
ブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオンから今夏リバプールに加入したアルゼンチン代表MFアレクシス・マク・アリスター(24)と、サン=ジロワーズのDFケビン・マク・アリスター(25)が対決。アレクシスは後半頭から、ケビンは先発したことで、後半に兄弟対決が実現した。
マク・アリスター家は、父親のカルロス氏がアルヘンティノス・ジュニアーズやボカ・ジュニアーズなどでプレーしたプロサッカー選手。さらに、3兄弟の長男であるフランシス(27)もプロサッカー選手で、現在は母国のロサリオ・セントラルでプレー。今回は次男のケビンと末っ子のアレクシスの対戦が実現した。
ちなみに叔父のパトリシオ氏は、パトリシオ・マカリスターという登録名でJリーグの前身であるJSL(日本サッカーリーグ)時代に三菱自動車工業サッカー部(浦和レッズの前身)でプレーしていた。
サッカー一家においては、父と叔父は過去にも対戦。また、フランシスとアレクシスの兄弟対決も過去にあった中、アレクシスとケビンの対決は初の出来事だったとのこと。ともにアルヘンティノス・ジュニアーズ、ボカ・ジュニアーズでプレーしたこともあるが、敵対したのは初だった。
両選手は今回の兄弟対決についてコメント。自身にとっても、家族にとっても特別な対決であり、勝敗を超えた経験となったようだ。

「とても美しかったし、もちろん家族にとっても感動的だった。過去に兄(フランシス)と対戦したことはあるけど、ケビンとは対戦したことがなかったから、家族にとっては特別だった」

「父はサッカー選手で、兄と対戦することが何を意味するかを知っている。叔父もそうだったからだ。彼は少し泣いていたんじゃないかな」
