かつてはスペイン代表で貴重な存在となっていたFWダニエル・グイサ(39)が、新シーズンも現役を続けることになった。
スペイン3部のアトレティコ・サンルケーニョは12日、グイサとの契約延長を発表した。新契約は1年間となる。
マジョルカやヘタフェ、フェネルバフチェなどでプレーしたグイサは、2007-08シーズンにマジョルカでシーズン27ゴールを挙げ27歳で得点王に輝くと、スペイン代表に滑り込みで選出されユーロ2008出場。昨シーズン限りで現役を引退したFWフェルナンド・トーレスやFWダビド・ビジャらとポジションを争い、本大会では4試合で2ゴールを記録し、優勝に貢献していた。
その後は、マレーシアのジョホール・ダルル・タクジムやパラグアイのセロ・ポルテーニョなどでもプレー。その後スペインへ戻り、2017年7月にアトレティコ・サンルケーニョへ加入していた。

トップレベルで活躍していた当初から、ピッチ外での話題に事欠かなかったグイサは、ユーロ2008のスペイン代表優勝に貢献したことでも知られているストライカーだ。
39歳になったグイサは、現在スペイン3部のアトレティコ・サンルケーニョでプレー。今シーズンはリーグ戦21試合に出場もゴールはない状況だ。
しかし、スペインでも感染が急速に拡大している新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)の影響でリーグ戦が中断に。グイサも例に漏れず、自己隔離措置を取ることとなった。
そんなグイサは、自身のインスタグラム(daniguizaoficial)を更新し1枚の写真を投稿し話題となっている。
その写真はスーパーマーケットでカートを押すグイサが移されたもの。買い物中の写真に映り込むグイサは、感染防止のために手袋を着用してカートを押している。
何の変哲も無い写真に見えるが、そのカートの中身が話題に。カートに積まれているのは、ビール3カートンと炭酸飲料4本パックであり、到底プロサッカー選手とは思えないもの。さらにグイサはインスタグラムで「隔離措置を過ごすための冷たいビール」と投稿していた。

しかし、私生活では再婚相手であり自身の代理人を務めていた妻と自身の母が揉め事を起こせば、代表戦の直前に離婚した元妻との密会が報じられるなどし、非難が集まる事態に。この件は本人が全面否定したが、その後はパフォーマンスも上がらず、2010年の南アフリカ・ワールドカップに出場することはできなかった。
