アーセナルは16日、2024-25シーズンのホームキットを発表した。
2022-23シーズンはプレミアリーグで優勝を争いをしながらも、終盤に失速してしまい2位に終わったアーセナル。今シーズンも継続して優勝争いに加わり、最終節を残した段階で首位と勝ち点差「2」の2位につけている。
20年ぶりのリーグ優勝の可能性を残すアーセナル。かつての栄光の時代の復活が見えてきている中、新ユニフォームが発表された。
1989-90シーズン以来となる胸にクラブの象徴である“大砲”を備えることに。ガナーズの愛称でも知られるクラブのルーツは軍需工場の労働者のクラブであり、クラブのエンブレムにも使われている“大砲”を胸につけて戦う。
身頃はクラブからのレッド、袖やサイドはホワイトとなり、肩にはネイビーのアディダスのストライプが入っている。これまで以上にホワイトの割合が増え、イメージが変わっている。
モデルにはキャプテンのマルティン・ウーデゴールやブカヨ・サカ、ガブリエウ・マルティネッリ、デクラン・ライス、カイ・ハヴァーツ、アレッシア・ルッソ、ロッテ・ウーベンモイが務めた。
ファンは「これは素晴らしい出来」、「これは手に入れたい」、「本当にこれは好きなやつ」、「予想よりかなり良い」、「印象が変わった。これを愛してる」、「とてもセクシーだ」とコメント。リークされた当初は配色などに批判的な見解が多かったが、実際に選手が着用した姿でガラリと印象が変わったようだ。

女子欧州選手権(ユーロ)2025予選のグループステージ第1節が5日に各地で行われた。
2025年7月からスイスで開催される本大会へ向けた予選がスタート。各チームのUEFA総合ランキングと、2023-24UEFA女子ネーションズリーグの結果をもとにグループ分けがなされ、開催国枠を除いた15個の椅子を争う。
各組3から4チームで構成されたグループステージ総当たり戦を行い、リーグAの上位2チーム、計8チームが本戦へストレートイン。リーグAの3位、4位チームや、リーグB・Cの上位チームはプレーオフに回る。
オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)チャンピオンのスペイン女子代表は、20歳のFWサルマ・パラジュエロのハットトリックなどで、ベルギー女子代表に7-0と圧勝。FIFAランキング1位の貫録を見せた。
前回大会の覇者、イングランド女子代表はスウェーデン女子代表をウェンブリースタジアムに迎え、ユーロ予選記録となる6万3428人の観衆を集めたが、1-1のドロー発進。アレッシア・ルッソのゴールで24分に先制するも、64分にフリドリーナ・ロルフォに同点弾を許している。

6日、FA女子コンチネンタルリーグカップ準決勝のアーセナルvsアストン・ビラがメドウパークで行われ、4-0で勝利したアーセナルが決勝進出を決めた。
歴代最多となる過去6度の優勝を誇るディフェンディングチャンピオンのアーセナルが、初の決勝進出を目指すアストン・ビラに力の差を見せ付けた。
試合開始から1分も満たないうちに、イングランド女子代表FWアレッシア・ルッソに決定機が訪れたアーセナルは、勢いのまま9分に先制点を奪う。ノルウェー女子代表MFフリーダ・マーナムのスルーパスにスウェーデン女子代表FWスティーナ・ブラックステニウスが反応して右ポケットへ侵入すると、強烈な右足の一撃でニアを射抜いた。

イングランドサッカー協会は13日、国際親善に向けた女子代表メンバー名を発表。DFリア・ウィリアムソン(アーセナル)がヒザの前十字じん帯断裂から復帰後、およそ1年ぶりの招集を受けた。
オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)では準優勝の成績を収めながらも、パリ・オリンピックへの出場権は逃したイングランド。
次なる目標を4月にスタートする女子欧州選手権(ユーロ)2025予選に切り替え、この代表ウイークにはスペインキャンプを決行。23日にオーストリア女子代表、27日にイタリア女子代表とスペインで国際親善試合を行う。
メンバーには大ケガを乗り越えたウィリアムソンが復帰した。26歳のセンターバックは、母国開催のユーロ2022でキャプテンとしてライオネスを初優勝へ導いたが、2023年4月19日のFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)、マンチェスター・ユナイテッド戦でヒザを負傷。前十字じん帯断裂と診断され、W杯出場を逃していた。
今年に入って1月25日に途中出場ながらも実践復帰を果たすと、4日には先発出場。負傷直前の2023年4月頭以来の代表選出となった。

なでしこジャパンの3選手、清水梨紗、林穂之香、植木理子を擁するウェストハム(11位/勝ち点8)は、ホームでアーセナル(3位/勝ち点28)と対戦。歴史的な1勝を挙げた。

国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は15日、国際プロサッカー選手会(FIFPro)と共同主催する2023年の女子ワールドイレブンを発表した。
FIFA/FIFProワールドイレブンは2005年からスタート。女子は2015年から始まっていた。
世界69カ国、2万8000人以上のプロフットボーラーが投票。2022年8月1日から、2023年8月20日までの成績に基づいて投票され、GK1人、DF、MF、FWが3人選ばれ、残りの1人はそれ以外の最も票を集めた選手となった。
15日に開催された『ザ・ベスト・FIFAフットボールアウォーズ』で11人のメンバーが発表。女子最優秀選手のスペん女子代表MFアイタナ・ボンマティや最優秀女子GKのイングランド代表GKメアリー・アープスなどが選出された。
2023年に行われたオーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップで優勝したスペイン女子代表からはわずか2名。一方で、準優勝だったイングランド女子代表からは最多の7名が選出される事態となった。
スペインとイングランド以外では、アメリカ女子代表FWアレックス・モーガン、そしてオーストラリア女子代表FWサマンサ・カーが選出されている。
また、アープスの他、アレックス・グリーンウッド、エラ・トゥーン、アレッシア・ルッソ、ローレン・ジェームズが初めてベストイレブン入り。モーガンとルーシー・ブロンズは6度目の受賞となり、フランス女子代表DFワンディ・ルナールの7回まで、あと1回と迫っている。

UEFA女子チャンピオンズリーグ(UWCL)のラウンド1が6日と9日に開催され、優勝経験のあるフランクフルトなどがラウンド2へ進出。同じく優勝経験のあるアーセナルは敗退となった。
3から4チームによるミニトーナメントで争われるラウンド1は、チャンピオンパスルートとリーグパスルート併せて15個の山が組まれた。
なでしこジャパンのDF宝田沙織とMF籾木結花を擁し、5季ぶりのUWCLに臨んだリンシェーピングFC(スウェーデン3位)は、リーグパスルートのグループ3に入り、6日にはアーセナル(イングランド3位)と対戦。相手にPK失敗にも助けられ、前半こそゴールレスで折り返したが、後半に3失点を喫して3位決定戦に回った。
9日に行われた3位決定戦ではパリFC(フランス3位)に敗れたFCクリフバス(ウクライナ2位)と対戦。籾木も1ゴールをマークし、3-0で勝利を収めて大会を終えた。
一方、アーセナルはスウェーデン女子代表DFアマンダ・イレステット、カナダ女子代表FWクロエ・ラカス、イングランド女子代表FWアレッシア・ルッソと、新加入選手がリンシェーピング戦で早速スタメンでデビュー。だが、9日のパリFCでは苦戦を強いられた。
2点を先行されながら後半アディショナルタイムに追い付き、延長戦に突入すると、ここでもリードを奪われ、ルッソのゴールで追い付く展開に。PK戦までもつれた一戦は、2-4でパリFCが勝利。アーセナルは過去出場した15回では全てグループステージを突破していたが、16回目にして初めてラウンド1で姿を消すこととなった。
その他では1.FFCフランクフルト時代に4度の優勝を誇るアイントラハト・フランクフルト(ドイツ3位)がユベントス(イタリア2位)をPK戦の末に下し、ラウンド2へ進出している。
ラウンド2からは南萌華と熊谷紗希の所属するローマ(イタリア1位)や、東洋大学から門脇真依を獲得したローゼンゴード(スウェーデン1位)などがチャンピオンパスルートに、宮澤ひなたの加入したマンチェスター・ユナイテッド(イングランド2位)などがリーグパスルートに登場する。
ラウンド2は2チームによるホーム&アウェイ方式で、10月10日/11日に1stレグ、10月18日/19日に2ndレグを開催。組み合わせ抽選は9月15日に行われる。

オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)決勝戦、スペイン女子代表vsイングランド女子代表が20日にスタジアム・オーストラリア(シドニー)で行われ、スペインが1-0で勝利。女子W杯初優勝を決めた。
互いに初の決勝進出を果たし、初優勝を目指すスペインとイングランド。両チームともに開幕前には難しい時間があった。
3大会連続3度目のW杯出場と、じわじわと力を付けてきたスペインだが、15選手が協会やホルヘ・ビルダ監督と健康面などの問題でもめ、一時代表から不在に。一定の決着をみたものの、主力だったバルセロナのGKサンドラ・パニョスやDFマリア・ピラー・レオンといった主力が今大会の欠場を表明していた。
それでも、エースのジェニファー・エルモソらがチームを牽引し、グループステージではコスタリカ女子代表、ザンビア女子代表に連勝して早々にノックアウトステージ進出を決めると、なでしこジャパンには大敗を喫したものの、先発メンバーを入れ替えたラウンド16のスイス女子代表戦では5-1と圧勝。準々決勝では延長戦の末にオランダ女子代表を、準決勝ではスウェーデン女子代表を下し、決勝へと駒を進めた。
対するイングランド女子代表も母国での女子欧州選手権(ユーロ)2022を制覇後、主軸に負傷者が続出。ベス・ミードや主将のリア・ウィリアムソンがヒザの前十字(ACL)靭帯断裂の重傷を負い、フラン・カービーもヒザのケガで離脱した。
グループステージではハイチ女子代表、デンマーク女子代表に辛勝だったが、サリナ・ヴィーフマン監督はシステムを[4-3-3]から[3-5-2]へ変更。中国女子代表戦では大勝を飾り、ラウンド16ではナイジェリア女子代表戦に数的不利に陥りながらもPK戦勝ちを収めると、以降コロンビア女子代表、オーストラリア女子代表を退け、5大会連続6度目のW杯で初のファイナルへとたどり着いた。
日本の山下良美主審が第4審を務めることとなった決勝戦は、ポゼッションに勝るスペインが押し込む序盤となったが、先に会場を大きく沸せたのはイングランド。ロスト後に即時奪回を試みるスペインのプレスをかいくぐり、右からのクロスをレイチェル・デイリーが落としてローレン・ヘンプの左足がクロスバーを叩く。
スペインも17分、左からのクロスが正面のサルマ・パラジュエロを抜けてファーのアルバ・レドンドに決定機。だが、シュートはGKの正面に飛んだ。
試合が動いたのは29分。スペインは中盤で人数を掛けて奪い切ると、右サイドバックのオナ・バトジェが素早く左へ展開し、収めたマリオナ・カルデンティがスルーパス。追い越して左ポケットに侵入したオルガ・カルモナが、地を這う左足でのダイレクトシュートで右下隅を射抜いた。
左サイドバックの2試合連続ゴールで先制したスペインは一層自信を持ってボールを回し、37分にセットプレーからイレーナ・パレデスにチャンス。前半終了間際には右クロスから3試合ぶりの先発起用となったパラジュエロの右足シュートが左ポストをかすめ、優位性を保って45分を終えた。
ビハインドのイングランドは後半開始直後に2枚替えで打開を図り、デイリーとアレッシア・ルッソを下げてクロエ・ケリーと2試合の出場停止処分が明けたローレン・ジェームズを投入。2人を両翼、ジョージア・スタンウェイとキーラ・ウォルシュの2ボランチ気味となる[4-2-3-1]へと立ち位置を変える。
GKメアリー・アープスがカルデンティのコントロールショットをセーブすると、徐々に右サイドを使った攻撃が機能し始め、54分にはケリーのクロスからヘンプというシーンを作った。
60分にレドンドに代えてオイアナ・エルナンデスを投入したスペインは、70分に差し掛かろうというタイミングの波状攻撃時、カルデンティの浮いた持ち出しがウォルシュの手に当たると、オン・フィールド・レビュー(OFR)の結果ハンドと判定され、PKを獲得する。
だが、エルモソがこの絶好機で失敗。右下隅へのキックをGKアープスががっちりとキャッチすると、会場は大きくどよめいた。
追加点のチャンスを逸したスペインはセンターバックの一角、ライア・コディナが負傷交代というアクシデントにも見舞われる。一方のイングランドもアレックス・グリーンウッドがパラジュエロとの競り合いでヒザが顔に入り、瞼の上あたりから出血。事なきを得たが、ゲームは大きく中断した。
最終盤、イングランドはベサニー・イングランドの投入に加え、センターバックのミリー・ブライトを前線に張らせるパワープレーを決行。対するスペインも13分という長いアディショナルタイムが示された中で隙あらば追加点をと、バトジェがボックス右まで侵入してのフィニッシュを見せるが、GKアープスも好セーブを披露し、望みをつなぐ。
だが、イングランドは最後までスペインの牙城を崩せず、新たなゴールは生まれぬままタイムアップ。虎の子の1点を死守したスペインが、初優勝を飾っている。

16日、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)の準決勝の全日程が終了。ファイナリストが決定した。
史上初の32カ国が出場し、女子としては初の南半球での開催となったW杯。ドイツやブラジルなど強豪国のグループステージ敗退など波乱もあった中、ノックアウトステージは熱戦の連続となった。
勝ち上がったのは、優勝候補のスペイン女子代表、イングランド女子代表、スウェーデン女子代表に、開催国のオーストラリア女子代表の4カ国。いずれの国も優勝経験がなく、スペインとオーストラリアは初のベスト4進出となっていた。
15日に行われたスペインvsスウェーデンは終盤までスコアが動かない拮抗した展開に。それでも81分にスペインがサルマ・パラジュエロのゴールで先制するが、88分にレベッカ・ブロンクビストのゴールでスウェーデンが追いつく。
土壇場で追いついたスウェーデンが勢いに乗るかと思われたが、89分にスペインはショートコーナーからオルガ・カルモナのミドルシュートが決まり勝ち越し。スペインが2-1で勝利し、初の決勝へ駒を進めた。
16日に行われたオーストラリアvsイングランドは、7万5000人を超す大観衆が詰めかけた。
試合はエラ・トゥーンのゴールでイングランドが先制するも、オーストラリアはエースのサマンサ・カーが同点ゴールを叩き込む。
しかし、自力に勝るイングランドはローレン・ヘンプが勝ち越しゴールを奪うと、終盤にはアレッシア・ルッソがダメ押しゴール。1-3でイングランドが勝利し、こちらも初の決勝に駒を進めた。
スウェーデンvsオーストラリアの3位決定戦は19日の17時から、ブリスベンにあるラング・パークで。スペインvsイングランドの決勝は、20日の19時からシドニーにあるスタジアム・オーストラリアで開催される。
