レアル・マドリーのフランス人MFテオ・ジダン(21)が、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)のナポリ戦に招集された。
ジネディーヌ・ジダン氏の3男として知られるテオは、長男エンツォ、次男リュカと共にマドリーのカンテラで育った196cmの大型セントラルMF。
過去にフランスの世代別代表にも招集され、ジダン家の中で最も高いポテンシャルの持ち主と評されるテオは、今シーズンのレアル・マドリー・カスティージャでも13試合に出場するなど主力を担っている。
マドリーはグループステージ4連勝ですでに決勝トーナメント進出を決定しており、今回のナポリ戦では引き分け以上で首位通過を確定できるという状況もあり、カルロ・アンチェロッティ監督は29日のホームゲームに向けて負傷者や軽傷者を温存。
そして、テオはMFニコ・パスやMFマリオ・マルティン、FWゴンサロ・ガルシアらカンテラーノと共に今回の一戦で招集メンバー入りを果たした。
なお、ナポリ戦の前日会見でアンチェロッティ監督は、テオを含めたカンテラーノについて言及。カンテラーノへの信頼を口にしながらも、現状ではトップチームで出場機会が少ない選手の起用を優先するとの考えを語っている。
「多くの人はカンテラのプレーヤーがプレーしていないという事実についてよく話しているが、我々は彼らのクオリティを活用する必要がある。ニコとゴンサロはプレーしており、マリオもチームに加わるだろう。テオもチームに入るかもしれない」
「彼らにとても自信を持っているし、ラウールは素晴らしい仕事をしている。彼らは我々のためにプレーする準備ができているが、私はプレー経験の少ないトップチームのプレーヤーを優先しなければならない。カンテラには安心している。彼らは我々とプレーする準備ができている」

レアル・マドリーは6日、クラブ・ワールドカップ(CWC)が開催されるモロッコへと移動。22選手で今大会に臨むこととなった。
昨シーズンのチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)王者としてCWCに臨むマドリー。8日にアル・アハリ(エジプト)と対戦する。
5日に行われたラ・リーガ第20節のマジョルカ戦に敗れて迎えるCWC。過密日程の中、チームからは主軸選手が数名外れることとなった。
今回参加しないのはベルギー代表GKティボー・クルトワ、負傷中のブラジル代表DFエデル・ミリトン、同じく負傷中のフランス代表FWカリム・ベンゼマ、ベルギー代表MFエデン・アザールらとなる。
マドリーは過去4度の優勝を誇っているが、5度目の優勝なるだろうか。
