6戦無敗で2位につける柏は前節、湘南ベルマーレとのアウェイゲームを1-0で勝利。連勝を狙ったホームゲームでは先発2人を変更。ベンチ外の原田亘に代わって成瀬竣平が加入後リーグ初先発を飾り、細谷真大に代わって渡井理己がスタメンに入った。
一方、19位の新潟は前節、京都サンガF.C.にホームで1-2の逆転負け。3試合ぶりの白星を目指したアウェイゲームではこちらも先発2人を変更。GKを藤田和輝からJ1デビューのベテランGK吉満大介に入れ替えたほか、ベンチ外となった矢村健に代えて高木善朗を起用した。
ともにポゼッション型のチームということもあり、序盤はボールの主導権争いが繰り広げられる。なかなかフィニッシュまで持ち込めない状況が続いたが、新潟が前節に続いてPKから先手を奪う。
12分、ボックス左に抜け出した長谷川元希がDF成瀬に後ろから押し倒されてPKを獲得。キッカーの小見洋太は昨季までチームメイトだったGK小島亨介と対峙したなか、ゴール右上隅へ見事なシュートを突き刺した。
早い時間帯にアウェイチームがスコアを動かしたなか、以降は勢いづく新潟ペースで進んでいく。畳みかける攻撃には至らずも、連動した前からの守備で柏の前進を許さず。守備でゲームをコントロールしていく。
一方、ビルドアップの機能不全で前線に良い形でボールが入る場面は皆無。何とか前半のうちにテコ入れを図りたいホームチームだったが、鮮やかな崩しからファーストシュートを同点ゴールに繋げて見せた。
32分、中盤でのボール奪取から右サイドの久保藤次郎に展開。小泉佳穂のサイド深くに流れるランニングと呼応する形で右のポケットに侵入した山田雄士がDFを背負いながらうまくマイナスに落とすと、前向きの渡井が抑えの利いた左足ダイレクトシュートをゴール右隅に突き刺し、加入後初のリーグ戦ゴールとした。
1-1のイーブンとなった試合は完全にホームチームへ流れが傾く。強度の高い守備に加え、ボールの循環が改善。幅と間をうまく使い分けて押し込み始めると、熊坂光希のミドルシュートや小泉が続けてボックス内に侵入し、相手ゴールを脅かす。さらに、前半終盤の43分には右サイドでの細かいパス交換からポケットに抜け出した久保にフリーでシュートチャンスも左隅を狙ったシュートは枠の左に外れてしまった。
前半の序盤と終盤で大きく主導権が入れ替わったなか、試合は1-1のスコアで後半に突入。後半は立ち上がりにボックス左へ侵入した奥村仁が枠のわずか右に外れる際どいシュートを放つなど、守勢だった新潟が勢いを持って入った。
立ち上がり以降も新潟がほぼイーブンの攻防をみせ、試合は一進一退の展開に。なかなか決定機まで持ち込めない膠着状態に陥っていく。
この状況で両ベンチが動きを見せる。攻撃に変化がほしい柏は垣田裕暉、山田雄士を下げて細谷、木下康介を続けて投入。前線を2トップの形に変更し、地上戦に加えて背後やシンプルなクロスからの攻撃を意識。その形から幾度かフィニッシュへ持ち込むが、一工夫が足りない。
これに対して新潟は71分に高木、奥村を下げてダニーロ・ゴメス、笠井佳祐を同時投入。こちらも前線とサイドの選手を入れ替えてゴールを目指す。75分にはその2人の連携からダニーロ・ゴメスの右クロスに飛び込んだ笠井のヘディングシュートでゴールに迫るが、これはわずかに枠を捉え切れず。
その後はダニーロ・ゴメスや長谷川がフィニッシュに絡むなどアウェイチームがよりゴールの匂いをさせたが、1-1のまま試合は最終盤に突入。
柏は勝負の3枚替えを敢行し、最後まで勝ち点3を目指したが、新潟の集中した守備を前に後半はゴールネットを揺らすことはできず。
この結果、実力拮抗という過去の対戦成績を踏襲する流れとなった試合は6試合連続ドロー決着となり、柏は暫定ながら4位に転落。新潟は敵地での上位相手の試合で最低限の勝ち点1を持ち帰る形となった。

名古屋グランパスが、イタリアでプレーする元育成選手の獲得に近づいているという。イタリア『L'inchiesta』が報じた。
その選手はフロジノーネのU-19チームに所属するFWヒデ・ヴィタルッチ(20)とのこと。日本とイタリアにルーツを持ち、名古屋のU-18から2019年7月にフロジノーネU-19に加入した。
日本では手嶋秀という名前でプレーしており、AZの日本代表DF菅原由勢やレノファ山口FCへレンタル中のDF成瀬竣平らと共に名古屋のU-15、U-18でプレーしていた。
トップチームに昇格せずにイタリアへと渡ったヒデ・ヴィタルッチは、2020-21シーズンはプリマヴェーラ2Bで20試合に出場し13ゴールを記録。2021-22シーズンはセリエC・A(イタリア3部)のペルゴレッテーゼへと移籍し、リーグ戦25試合に出場し3ゴールを記録。右ウイングでプレーをして、大きく経験を積んでいた。
『L'inchiesta』は「意外なことに、ヒデ・ヴィタルッチは日本に復帰する。未来は日出るくににあるかもしれない。彼がイタリアに来る前に育ち、プレーした名古屋グランパスにたどり着くだろう」と伝え、「彼の家族が今も住んでいるトヨタに戻るという仮説が彼を誘惑している」と日本復帰が近づいていると報じている。
今夏はMF永木亮太(←湘南ベルマーレ)、MF重廣卓也(←アビスパ福岡)、FW永井謙佑(←FC東京)を既に獲得。立て直しを図るクラブに、新たな戦力が“復帰”するのか注目だ。
