エールディビジで、久々にゴールを決めた選手のセレブレーションが話題となっている。
その選手はNECの元パラグアイ代表MFエドガル・バレットだ。母国のセロ・ポルテーニョから2004年1月にNECへと加入したバレット。2007年7月にはレッジーナへと完全移籍。その後、アタランタ、パレルモ、サンプドリアと渡り歩き、2020年5月にフリーとなっていた。
2020年7月に古巣でもあるNECへと加入したバレット。今シーズンもキャプテンとして試合に出場するなど主軸としてプレーすると、26日に行われたカンブール戦にも出場した。
ダブルボランチの一角として出場したバレットは、0-1で迎えた31分に左CKをヘディングで合わせてゴール。なんと、エールディビジでは14年216日ぶりのゴールとなり、元オランダ代表FWロビン・ファン・ペルシが持つ記録を塗り替え、最長期間を空けてのゴールを記録したこととなった。
それだけの期間を明けてのゴールも凄いことだが、話題となっているのはゴール後の反応だった。
ヘディングを決めたバレットは、突然ダッシュ。大雨が降り頻る中でベンチの方まで何か叫びながら長い距離を走ると、フードを被った人物と熱い抱擁を交わしたのだ。
そん人物は、この試合でボールボーイを務めてた実の息子。生き別れた息子と再会したかのような、映画やドラマのワンシーンのようなハグが大きな注目を集めた。

サンプドリアは27日、元パラグアイ代表MFエドガル・バレット(35)との契約を双方合意の下で解除したことを発表した。
パラグアイ代表として60試合の出場歴を持つバレットは、レッジーナ、アタランタ、パレルモを経て2015年夏にサンプドリアに加入。サンプドリアでは公式戦110試合に出場して5ゴール4アシストを記録。セリエAでは通算264試合に出場して11ゴール17アシストを記録した。
しかし今季は負傷の影響もあり、セリエAでわずか2試合の出場に留まっていた。

サンプドリアに所属する元パラグアイ代表MFエドガル・バレット(35)が新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)に感染したようだ。『フットボール・イタリア』が伝えている。
13日までにFWマノロ・ガッビアディーニやMFアルビン・エクダルら5選手の感染が確認されていたサンプドリア。この時点で、混乱を避けるために今後はクラブからの感染者の発表は控えると公表していた。
しかし、14日にMFファビオ・デパオリが、15日にDFバルトシュ・ベレシュインスキが自身のインスタグラムで明かしたことから7人目の感染が判明していた。
その後、感染者の報告が見られなかったサンプドリアだが、イタリアのパラグアイ大使であるロバート・メルガレホ氏は、母国パラグアイのラジオ『ラ・ユニオン』でバレットがサンプドリア8人目の感染者であることを明かした。

2015年にパレルモからサンプドリアに加入したバレットは、在籍5シーズンで公式戦110試合に出場。今シーズンはここまでセリエAで2試合の出場に留まっていた。

▽サンプドリアは16日、元パラグアイ代表MFエドガル・バレット(33)と2019年6月30日まで契約を延長したことを発表した。
▽2015年夏にパレルモからサンプドリアに加入したセントラルMFのバレットは、これまでサンプドリアで公式戦90試合に出場して5ゴールを記録。今季もセリエAで19試合に先発し、7位と健闘しているチームの中で準主力としてプレーしている。また、パラグアイ代表としてはこれまで61キャップを刻んでいる。
