なでしこジャパンのMF長野風花(リバプール)の珍しい一面が見られたようだ。
オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)での戦いを終え、クラブへと帰還した長野。リバプール女子の中で唯一のノックアウトステージ進出者となった24歳は、チームメイト総出で温かく迎えられ、現地ファンからも「俺たちのマエストロが帰ってきた!」など、労いと期待の声が寄せられていた。
トレーニングへもすでに合流しているようで、クラブの公式インスタグラムは練習へ向かう際の一コマを紹介。元イングランド女子代表DFジェマ・ボナーとともにカメラの前にやってきた長野は「Ohhh! Yeeeees!」と声を上げ、満面の笑みで拳を突きあげた。
なかなか見ることのできないハイテンションの背番号「8」には「おかえり」、「可愛なぁもう」、「楽しそう!」といった声のほか、「背番号は新しく11になるのかい?」と、トレーニングウエアのナンバーを指摘するコメントも届いた。
FA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)へ3季ぶりに再昇格した昨季のリバプールは、前半戦を2勝2分け6敗で終えていたが、長野加入後は4勝3分け5敗と勝ち点を積み上げ、12チーム中7位でまとめた。
今季はリーグ戦開幕前にフランスのコロミエで開催されるミニトーナメント、『AMOS Women’s French Cup』に参加。28日にパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)と対戦し、31日にはアトレティコ・マドリーかミランのいずれかと、決勝ないしは3位決定戦を行う。
なでしこでもリバプールでも中盤でタクトを振るう長野。試合後にもこのような笑顔が見られるか、注目だ。

リバプールの女子選手が再びの剛腕を披露している。
5日、リバプールはFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)第13節で残留争いのライバル、レディングとホームで対戦。2-0で勝利を収めた。
なでしこジャパンのMF長野風花も中盤の一角で先発出場したリバプールは、62分にU-23イングランド女子代表MFミッシー・ボー・カーンズのゴールで先制。3分後にはロングスローから追加点を挙げる。
アイルランド女子代表DFメーガン・キャンベルが右サイド深い位置から足の長いスローインを投げ込むと、ニアポスト手前でイングランド女子代表DFジェマ・ボナーがフリック。ファーでウェールズ女子代表セリ・ホーランドが蹴り込んだ。
女子選手としては珍しい飛距離のある投擲を披露するキャンベル。昨シーズンも40m級のスローインからゴールを呼び込み、話題をさらっていた。
リバプールは今節の勝利で降格圏に沈む最下位レスター・シティとの勝ち点差を「8」に広げ、8位に浮上。また、長野はフル出場を果たし、試合のプレーヤー・オブ・ザ・マッチ(POTM)に選出されている。
