カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で優勝し、悲願のトロフィーを獲得したアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシ。試合後にはそのトロフィーを掲げるメッシの姿や、家族と一緒に喜びを共有する姿が印象的だった。
メッシと喜びを分かち合っていたのは、妻のアントネラ・ロクソさん。2人はともにアルゼンチンのロサリオ出身で、メッシは1987年6月24日に、ロクソさんは1988年2月26日生まれ。同学年ということになる。
2人の出会いは5歳の時。メッシが幼少期を過ごしたクラブ、ニューウェルス・オールドボーイズでプレーした際のチームメイトの従姉妹がロクソさんだったという。そういう意味では、2人は小さい時からの幼馴染だ。
メッシは出会った時から一目惚れしていたことを後に明かしていたが、交際がスタートしたのは17歳頃。ロクソさんの友人が事故死しショックを受けていた時に、当時バルセロナに所属していたメッシがわざわざアルゼンチンに戻って励ましたのだ。そのことがきっかけとなり交際へと発展した。
そこからロクソさんがスペインへと移住すると、2012年11月には長男のチアゴくんが誕生。さらに2015年9月には次男のマテオくんが誕生。2人は事実婚状態を継続していたが、2017年6月にはとうとう故郷のロサリオで挙式して入籍。その後3男のシロくんも誕生している。
メッシは35歳。ロクソさんとは30年来の仲ということになる。ずっとメッシを支えてきたロクソさんにとっても、W杯優勝の喜びは図りしれないものだったのではないだろうか。

パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシにとってマテ茶は欠かせないもの。
南米のソウルドリンクとして知られるマテ茶。ビタミンやミネラルの含有量が高いマテ茶は、アルゼンチン代表選手たちの間でも愛飲されている。
メッシもカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)の優勝後のインタビューで「妻と一緒にマテ茶を飲みながら、ゆっくりと優勝の喜びを味わいたい」と語っていたほどのお気に入りだ。
マテ茶は茶漉しがついた専用のストローを差し込んで飲むのだが、メッシはストローも特別なものを使っているようだ。
アルゼンチン『TN』によると、メッシはウルグアイのフェデリコ・ブレシアーニさんにストローの制作を直接依頼。ブレシアーニさんがW杯優勝の記念に特別なものを作ったという。
「直接連絡してきたんだ。彼は、自分用のものと家族に贈る用のものをと言ってきました。W杯の開催期間中だった。そして、決勝のタイミングで、この機会にボンビージャ(ストロー)を作ってあげようと思いついんだ」

「ルイス・スアレスのおかげで、彼は私たちと知り合った。何年か前に私たちが作った最初のマテ茶を彼に渡した。他の選手同様に謙虚な姿勢に感心させられたんだ。その写真を彼のインスタグラムにアップされたのが、なんだか誇らしかった」
カタールで悲願のW杯優勝を果たしたメッシ。歓喜のマテ茶はさぞ美味しかったのではないだろうか。

バルセロナのカンテラに所属する注目の“いとこコンビ”が偉業を成し遂げた。
バルセロナのリザーブチームで、スペイン3部に所属するバルサ・アトレティック(前バルセロナB)。
7日にホームでプリメーラ・フェデラシオン第3節のオウレンセ戦を戦ったチームでは、U-17スペイン代表FWトニ・フェルナンデス、同MFギジェ・フェルナンデスの16歳いとこコンビが偉業を成し遂げた。
1点リードで迎えた前半41分、中央で味方とパス交換してゴール前に侵入したトニは低空の見事な左足ジャンピングボレーを右隅に叩き込む。この直後の45分にはボックス中央でトニから横パスを受けたギジェが右足を振ると、ブロックを試みた相手DFにもディフレクトしたシュートがゴール右隅に突き刺さった。
このゴールは2人にとってバルサ・アトレティックでの初ゴールとなったが、いずれも年少記録を更新するモノとなった。
ギジェが16歳2カ月21日で決めたゴールは元スペイン代表FWボージャン・クルキッチの16歳2カ月28日の記録を抜き、歴代3位の年少ゴールに。
一方、トニの16歳1カ月23日でのゴールは元ナイジェリア代表FWハルナ・ババンギダの16歳1カ月28日を抜き、歴代最年少ゴールとなった。
ちなみにバルセロナのレジェンド中のレジェンドであるアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシは17歳2カ月13日で歴代6位だ。
なお、インテリオールを主戦場とするギジェはプレシーズンツアーでハンジ・フリック監督から定期的にプレー機会を与えられ、センターフォワードや右ウイングを主戦場とするトニもモナコとのジョアン・ガンペール杯でプレー機会を与えられており、近い将来のファーストチームデビューも期待されている。

ウルグアイ代表FWルイス・スアレスが自らのヒザの状態について語った。アルゼンチン『Ole』が伝えた。
2022シーズン限りで母国ウルグアイのナシオナルを退団し、2023シーズンはブラジルのグレミオでプレーしているスアレス。2020年に手術した右ヒザの慢性的な痛みに悩まされる中、カンピオナート・ブラジレイロ・セリエAで32試合15ゴールを記録している。
しかし、スアレスは7月に開いた記者会見で、ヒザの問題のため12月でグレミオとの契約を終えることで合意したと発表。現役引退の可能性や、元チームメイトのFWリオネル・メッシらが在籍するインテル・マイアミ行きが取り沙汰されている。
来年1月に37歳の誕生日を迎えるこのストライカーは、ウルグアイのラジオ『890 Sport』でヒザの問題について詳しく語り、リハビリの最中にコロナ禍となってしまったことが原因だと明かしている。
「ヒザの外側に、バルセロナ時代に受けた手術の後遺症があるんだ」
「回復の最終段階でパンデミックがやってきて、自分でエクササイズをしなければならなくなり、ヒザを完全に伸ばしきることができなかった。内側は軟骨がすり減っていて、それが骨にぶつかるんだ」
スアレスはヒザの痛みに必死に耐えていることや、プレーするために多くの処置を施していることも明かした。
「常にヒザの痛みを感じている。動かすことができないから幸いにも水は溜まらないけど、固まって曲げることもできない」
「試合の前日には薬を3錠飲み、試合の数時間前にはボルタレン(消炎鎮痛剤)の注射を打つ。そうしないとプレーできない。それが足を引きずる原因だ」
また、このヒザの痛みはサッカーのみならず、日常生活にも支障をきたしているという。
「今はこの関節の痛みに耐えることができるけど、5年後には友達との5人制サッカーもできなくなるかもしれない」
「実際、朝の1歩目はとても痛い。誰が見ても、試合に出るなんて不可能だと感じる。息子に一緒に遊ぼうと言われても、遊ぶことができないんだ」
スアレスは今後の進退についても言及。葛藤を抱える中でもサッカーは続けたいと考えているようだ。
「今の僕の望みは、1日1日を生きて、自分の人生を楽しむことだ」
「クラブに加わるとしたらそれは勝つためで、そうでないなら引退する。僕は頭が固いからサッカーを楽しみ続けたいと思っているし、それが一番好きなことなんだ」

アヤックス、リバプールで多くのゴールを決め続けていたスアレス。世界屈指のゴールゲッターであり、全盛期を過ごしていた中、2014年7月にバルセロナへと完全移籍した。
バルセロナでは、アルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシ、ブラジル代表FWネイマールとのトリオがそれぞれのイニシャルを取り"MSN"と称されたほど、抜群の連携と結果を残していた。

スアレスは『Star+』のインタビューにて、バルセロナでの最後の瞬間についてコメント。当時の様子を明かした。
「あの時は、メッシがかつて無いほどに泣いているのを見た。僕たちは皆、その状況に影響を受け、彼は自分が育ったクラブに何が起きたかを見て、打ちのめされていた」
「今でもなぜあんなことになったのか不思議だが、少なくとも僕は、アトレティコ・マドリーで幸せになるチャンスを得たんだ」
スアレスはバルセロナで公式戦283試合で195ゴール113アシストを記録。ラストシーズンとなった2019-20シーズンもラ・リーガで28試合に出場し16ゴール8アシスト、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)でも7試合で5ゴール3アシストを記録していた。
その中での突然の移籍。クラブが退団を迫り、難しい時期を過ごしていたことを告白した。
「僕は最高の顔でトレーニングに参加していたし、準備ができていた。でも、バルセロナはレオから僕を引き離すことに執着したんだ」
「毎日家に帰ると泣いているような辛い時期だったし、まるで僕たちのせいであるかのように、メッシが放って置かれているのを見るのは、僕も心を痛めた」
「その年、僕たちはチャンピオンズリーグでバイエルンに敗れたばかりだった。僕たちはみんな打ちのめされていた。それまで以上に団結する必要があったけど、クラブは最悪の方法で物事を解決することを決定した」
スアレスが退団した2020年夏には、クラブとメッシの間で軋轢が生まれたタイミング。スアレスに対するクラブの態度に怒りを覚えたメッシが、不信感を理由に退団の意思を表明した。
バルセロナはメッシの意思で退団できる条項を契約に盛り込んでいたが、期限切れと判断。一方で、当時は新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)が蔓延し始めた頃であり、リーグが中断するなどしたため、有効であるとメッシは主張。その後も対立が続いたが、メッシが残留を決断。クラブ相手の裁判を避けてのものだったと明かしていた。
結果として1年後にメッシもクラブを去ることに。メッシ、ネイマールと良い関係を築いていたというスアレスは、その関係が崩れたことが、とても残念だったという。
「バルサにやって来た時、僕はレオに、『僕の唯一の目標は勝つことであり、誰からもポジションを奪うことではない』と話した。その瞬間から、レオは僕が彼に真実を話していると知り、その瞬間から僕たちはレオとネイマールの両方と、兄弟の絆を築いていた」
結果としてネイマール、スアレス、メッシと時期は異なるが全員がバルセロナから離れることに。スター選手たちの間に生まれていた絆は、やはり残念な形で終わりを迎えていたようだ。
