31日、日本代表はアジアカップ2023のラウンド16でバーレーン代表と対戦する。
過去の対戦成績は日本の8勝2敗となっているが、アジアカップの舞台で最後に対戦したのは2004年の中国大会での準決勝。記憶に残る激闘だった。
MF小野伸二、FW高原直泰ら当時の主力選手が欠場していた当時の日本は、開催国の中国サポーターにブーイングを浴びせられながらも決勝トーナメントに進出すると、準々決勝ではPK戦途中でのサイド変更とGK川口能活の神がかり的なセーブが印象深いヨルダン代表戦に勝利し、準決勝でバーレーンと対戦した。
しかし、バーレーン戦では開始6分に先制ゴールを許すと、40分にはMF遠藤保仁が不可解な判定で一発退場。日本はビハインドの状況で数的不利を負ってしまった。
数的不利の状況でもMF中田浩二とFW玉田圭司のゴールで逆転した日本だったが、その後2失点。2-3と1点ビハインドで試合終盤を迎えた。
それでも日本は最後まで諦めず。DFも攻めあがって同点ゴールを狙うと、90分にDF中澤佑二が値千金の同点ゴール。不屈の精神で同点に追いつくと、延長前半には玉田の独走ゴールが決まり、4-3で激闘を制していた。
なんとか決勝に進出した日本は、決勝で中国代表を撃破。見事に大会連覇を成し遂げていた。
久しぶりの対戦を前に『DAZN』は当時の試合映像をプレイバック。SNS上のファンも「このゴールで中澤佑二に惚れた」、「バーレーン戦といえばこの試合よな」、「痺れたね、玉田」、「まさに「死闘」ってカンジだった!」、「2004の大会は激熱だった」と当時を思い返している。
ベスト8を懸けた一戦は、31日の20時30分にキックオフ。『DAZN』で視聴が可能だ。

サッカー界に数多く存在してきたスター選手。その中でも、異名を持つ選手はそこまで多くない。
際たるものは"サッカーの王様"と呼ばれたキング・ペレ。ブラジルの英雄であり、ワールドカップ(W杯)で3度も優勝を経験しているレジェンド中のレジェンドだ。そして、そのペレにも例えられ"白いペレ"と呼ばれ、"サッカーの神様"として知られているのが、ジーコだ。
日本でも住友金属、鹿島アントラーズとプレーし、その後に日本代表監督を務めたことからも、知らない人はいないほどの知名度だろう。サッカー界でも指折りの偉大なレジェンドだ。
<span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆実力も世界でトップの1人</span>
ジーコは愛称であり、本名は「アルトゥール・アントゥネス・コインブラ」、172cmと大きくない身体でありながら、ゴールやパスでチームに貢献した。
18歳でブラジルの名門・フラメンゴでファーストチームに昇格した。元々は体が小さく、線も細かったために、あまり期待はされていなかったが、その才能を高く評価され、体を鍛えることでチャンスを手にした。
フラメンゴでは12年プレーし4度のリーグ優勝を経験。その後ウディネーゼに移籍しセリエAでプレー。フラメンゴに戻ると、38歳で来日。Jリーグ2年目の1994年に41歳で現役を引退した。
クラブチームでも偉大な成績を残し、Jリーグでは初年度の開幕戦で圧巻のハットトリックを記録。これはJリーグ史上初のハットトリックであり、相手の名古屋グランパスには元イングランド代表FWのギャリー・リネカーがいた。リネカーも大きな注目の的となったが、神様の前ではただの脇役になってしまったのだ。
<span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆ワールドカップでの輝きと挫折</span>
そのジーコは、当然ブラジル代表でも輝いた。W杯には1978年、1982年、1986年と3大会連続で出場。残念ながら、ブラジル代表にジュール・リメ杯(W杯のトロフィー)をもたらすことはできなかったが、運のなさもあった。
初めてのW杯となった1978年のアルゼンチン大会。初戦のスウェーデン代表戦では、試合終了間際にCKからゴールを決めたが、取り消しに。シュートを打つ前に笛が吹かれたという、今では考えられない状況で試合が終わることとなった。
ただ、ジーコはあまり出場機会を得られず、さらに大会中に負傷。チームも決勝にたどり着けずに終わっていた。
その4年後の1982年、スペイン大会ではソクラテス、ファルカン、トニーニョ・セレーゾとの「黄金のカルテット」と呼ばれる中盤を形成。巧みなパスワーク、そして圧倒的な攻撃力で優勝候補となっていた。
ジーコも4年前の悔しさを晴らそうと、1次リーグで3ゴールを挙げる活躍。2次リーグもアルゼンチン戦で1ゴール2アシスト、イタリア戦でもアシストを記録したが、チームは敗退。結果は伴わなかったが、この時のブラジル代表のパフォーマンスは世界で称賛され、「ブラジルサッカー史上最も魅了したチーム」とも称えられている。
そして3度目となる1986年のメキシコ大会だったが、今度は大会前にケガ。ヒザを負傷した状態で臨み、チームに貢献できず。"サッカーの神様"に本当の神様は微笑むことはなかった。

サッカー王国ブラジルにおいても、数多のスター選手の中でトップクラスの評価を受けるジーコ。選手としてW杯では良い思い出はないが、監督としても苦い思いをした。
現役時代の「黄金のカルテット」は、日本代表でも実現。中田英寿、中村俊輔、小野伸二、稲本潤一が大きな注目を集めた。
しかし、W杯では稲本や小野はベンチに座ることに。日本代表として個々の能力や特徴が突出した選手が多く集まっていたが、逆に一体感をチームに作り上げることができず、1分け2敗で敗退。監督としても、W杯で結果を残せず、クラブチームはその他の代表戦とは異なり、ジーコにとっては苦い思い出となってしまった。
それでも、ジーコが現役時代に見せた華やかなプレー、そしてクラブチームで残した功績は数知れず。日本でもギリギリでJリーグ入りを果たし、オリジナル10となった鹿島に対し、常勝軍団となるべく改革したのはジーコ本人。それは、今でも"ジーコ・スピリット"として、鹿島の中で生き続けている。"サッカーの神様"と呼ばれる選手は、この先に生まれることはないのかも知れない。

フェイエノールトがクラブレジェンドであるロビン・ファン・ペルシ氏(41)の招へいに動いていることがわかった。
先日にブライアン・プリスケ前監督を解任したフェイエノールト。現在、チームはU-21チームを率いるパスカル・ボシャールト氏が暫定指揮官を務め、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)では格上ミランを撃破し、ベスト16進出を決めた。
ただ、ボシャールト氏はあくまで暫定指揮官とみなされており、クラブは新指揮官探しに奔走している。
そんななか、地元メディアの『Vi』は、オランダ人指揮官の招へいを最優先とするクラブがレジェンドの招へいへオファーを掲示したと報じている。
現役時代に名ストライカーとして名を馳せたファン・ペルシ氏は、フェイエノールトやアーセナル、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドなどで活躍し、2度のプレミアリーグ得点王。クラブキャリア通算274得点、オランダ代表通算50得点を叩き出した。
その後、古巣フェイエノールトで指導者キャリアをスタートし、2021-22シーズンから3年間、ファーストチームのテクニカルスタッフとU-18監督を並行させ、2024-25シーズンからヘーレンフェーンのファーストチーム指揮官に就任。就任1年目となった今シーズンのエールディビジでは7勝6分け10敗の9位という成績を残している。
フェイエノールトはヘーレンフェーンに対して、引き抜きの際の違約金の支払いなどの交渉も行っており、ファン・ペルシ氏のサポート役として、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドでエリク・テン・ハグ監督のコーチングスタッフを務めていたレネ・ハケ氏の招へいにも動いているようだ。
現在、フェイエノールトではファン・ペルシ氏の息子であるFWシャキール・ファン・ペルシ(18)がU-19チームでプレーしており、その辺りも招へいにプラスに働く可能性が高い。
現役時代には小野伸二氏とともに共闘したファン・ペルシ氏だが、今度は指揮官としては上田綺世を指導することになるのか。

本間は1999年に浦和レッズから水戸へ加入。これまでJ2最多となる574試合に出場しているが、昨シーズンは公式戦での出場はなかった。今シーズンで水戸での生活が21年目となる。
DF山本英臣(ヴァンフォーレ甲府)
1980年6月26日(39歳)
J2リーグ通算:264試合出場10得点
1999年にジェフユナイテッド千葉でプロキャリアをスタートさせた山本は、2003年に甲府へ加入。在籍17年目となった昨シーズンは明治安田生命J2リーグで16試合に出場し1得点を記録した。
FW玉田圭司(V・ファーレン長崎)
1980年4月11日(40歳)
J2リーグ通算:120試合出場26得点
玉田は、柏レイソルや名古屋グランパス、セレッソ大阪でプレーし、昨シーズンから長崎でプレー。明治安田生命J2リーグで35試合に出場し7得点を記録していた。
MF小野伸二(FC琉球)

J2リーグ通算:72試合9得点
日本代表として58試合6ゴールの成績を誇る小野は、浦和レッズ、フェイエノールト、ボーフム、清水エスパルス、ウェスタン・シドニー・ワンダラーズを渡り歩き、2014年に北海道コンサドーレ札幌入り。昨年8月から琉球へ加わり、明治安田生命J2リーグ9試合に出場した。

神奈川県出身の安彦は、ブラジルのグレミオ・マリンガでプロ契約を結ぶもケガの影響で退団を強いられて現役を一度引退。その後は、大宮アルディージャの通訳やサッカー教室のコーチを務めていたが、2018年3月に水戸と正式契約に至り、40歳のオールドルーキーとして注目を浴びた。2019年にYS横浜へ移籍すると、開幕戦でJリーグ最年長初出場記録となる41歳1カ月9日でデビューを果たすなど、明治安田生命J3リーグに8試合出場した。
MF稲本潤一(SC相模原)

J3リーグ通算:9試合1得点
稲本は、ガンバ大阪の下部組織出身。G大阪の他、アーセナル、フルアム、WBA、カーディフ、ガラタサライ、フランクフルト、スタッド・レンヌ、川崎フロンターレ、北海道コンサドーレ札幌でプレーした。 世界各国でプレーした稲本は、2019シーズンから相模原に加入。明治安田生命J3リーグで9試合に出場し1得点を記録していた。
MF伊東輝悦(アスルクラロ沼津)
1974年8月31日(45歳)
J3リーグ通算:14試合0得点
プロ28年目となる伊東は、長きに渡り清水エスパルスで活躍。2009年にはJ1史上初となる450試合出場を達成した。2010年に18年間プレーした清水からヴァンフォーレ甲府に移籍すると、2011年に500試合出場を達成。その後、AC長野パルセイロ、ブラウブリッツ秋田でのプレーを経て2017年に秋田から沼津に加入。2年間はリーグ戦出場はなかったが、昨シーズンは明治安田生命J3リーグに1試合出場した。
FW中山雅史(アスルクラロ沼津)
1967年9月23日(52歳)
J3リーグ通算:0試合0得点
かつてジュビロ磐田のエースストライカーとして一時代を築き上げ、日本代表としても1998年のフランス大会から2大会連続でワールドカップ(W杯)を経験するなど通算53試合21得点を誇る中山。コンサドーレ札幌(現・北海道コンサドーレ札幌)を経て、2015年途中から沼津に所属している。なお、中山は沼津に加入して以来、いまだ出場なし。今シーズンは2012年の札幌時代ぶりとなるプレーが期待される。
MF橋本英郎(FC今治)
1979年5月21日(41歳)
J3リーグ通算:19試合1得点
ガンバ大阪でプロキャリアをスタートした橋本はヴィッセル神戸、セレッソ大阪、AC長野パルセイロ東京ヴェルディでのプレーを経て、2019年に大阪府立天王寺高等学校の先輩である岡田武史氏が代表を務める今治へ移籍。今季は2016シーズン以来のJ3の舞台でプレーする。

世界的に有名な元ポルノ女優のミア・ハリファさん。現在は引退しており、インフルエンサーとして活躍しているが、実は大のサッカーファンとしても知られている。
現在29歳のミアさんは、スポーツ好きであり、特にサッカーがお気に入り。レバノン出身で、8歳の時に不安定な国内情勢の影響でアメリカへ家族と共に亡命していた。
世界的にも人気を博したミアさんはウェストハムのファンであることを公言。プレミアリーグのドリームチームを自身で組むなど、サッカーへの愛が非常に強いことでも知られている。
そのミアさんはYouTubeチャンネルの『AFTV』に出演。自身のお気に入りの現役選手3名を選ぶという企画に参加した。
しかし、ミアさんは現役選手ではなく、かつてマンチェスター・ユナイテッドでプレーし、イングランド代表のレジェンドでもあるデイビッド・ベッカムをまず挙げることに。「私は女性なのでベックスと言わざるを得ないわ」とコメント。理由が実に斬新で「12歳の時の私よりも高い声で彼が話すのを聞く度に、いつも笑わせてもらうわ。とても楽しいの」と、ベッカムの高い声がどうやらお気に入りらしい。
そして2人目に挙げたのがこれまた現役選手ではなく、ユベントスやレアル・マドリーで活躍し、フランス代表のレジェンドでもあるジネディーヌ・ジダンをピックアップした。
ジダンを選んだ理由については「ジネディーヌ・ジダンはサッカーを見てきた中で、最もエキサイティングだった」と、こちらは真面目にサッカー面でお気に入りの選手とのこと。ただ「私は暴力的なものが好きだけど、サッカーはバタバタしていて嫌になるわ。でもヘッドバッドは史上最高の瞬間だったわね」と、2006年のドイツW杯決勝でジダンがイタリア代表DFマルコ・マテラッツィに見舞った頭突きがお気に入りだという。
そして3人目に挙げたのが現役選手。唯一選ばれた現役選手はセルティックに所属し、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にも出場したオーストラリア代表MFアーロン・モーイだ。
日本代表FW前田大然、MF旗手怜央、FW古橋亨梧、MF井手口陽介とチームメイトとして今シーズンプレー。かつてはウェスタン・シドニー・ワンダラーズでMF小野伸二(北海道コンサドーレ札幌)共プレーしたことがある。
モーイを選んだ理由については、「フットボール界のカワイ・レナードのようなものね」と語り、NBAのロサンゼルス・クリッパーズに所属するバスケットボールプレーヤーに例え、「モーイはレナードのように行動する。カメラは苦手だし、ちょっとおっちょこちょいだけど、それを感じさせないわ」と語り、「わからないけど、彼を思い出すの。カワイ・レナードは良い男よ」と、またしても独特な理由で選出していた。
