イングランド代表を退任したガレス・サウスゲイト監督(53)だが、将来的にもマンチェスター・ユナイテッド行きの可能性は低いようだ。
サウスゲイト監督はイングランド代表指揮官として、2018年、2022年のワールドカップ(W杯)、2021年、2024年のユーロと4つの大会でチームを指揮。いずれも安定した結果を残しながらタイトルには手が届かず、先月開催されたユーロ2024も準優勝に終わったことで、16日にイングランドサッカー協会(FA)が退任を発表した。
そのサウスゲイト監督には、かねてよりユナイテッドの指揮官就任の噂も。昨シーズン限りでエリク・テン・ハグ監督が解任された場合には、後任の最有力候補と一部メディアでは報じられていた。
しかし、結局ユナイテッドはテン・ハグ監督の続投を発表。加えて、イギリス『デイリー・メール』によると仮に新シーズンで低迷し、テン・ハグ監督を解任したとしても、ユナイテッド上層部がサウスゲイト監督を後任に据える可能性は極めて低いようだ。
もし、テン・ハグ監督と袂を分かった場合、ユナイテッドが後任の最有力と見込んでいるのは、チェルシーやバイエルンで指揮を執っていたトーマス・トゥヘル氏とのこと。もちろん、クラブとしては現在テン・ハグ監督のサポートに全力を尽くす姿勢と伝えられている。

J1で低迷する横浜FM、暫定指揮官のパトリック・キスノーボ氏が正式監督に就任｢私にとって夢のよう｣

「悲しい現実」PK失敗で戦犯扱い、差別投稿受けたサカがサポートに感謝「フットボールのあるべき姿」「愛は常に勝つ」

香川真司がユナイテッド退団の転機を明らかに 「ディ・マリアとファルカオがやって来て…」

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす

「後悔が1つある」カントナが“カンフーキック”事件を回顧「もっと強く蹴っていれば…」
