勝利の立役者、アルゼンチン代表FWフリアン・アルバレスが自信を口にした。13日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)準決勝のアルゼンチン代表vsクロアチア代表が行われ、リオネル・メッシの先制PKなど、3得点を挙げたアルゼンチンが3-0で勝利。決勝進出を決めた。
アルバレスは先制点となる34分のPKを獲得したほか、39分には自陣から50m以上を持ち上がるカウンターで追加点を奪取。69分にはメッシのお膳立てからダメ押しゴールをマークした。

少年時代にメッシと記念撮影をしていた新星は、時を経た大舞台で相棒として堂々と肩を並べている。アルゼンチン代表の公式ツイッターは自信に満ちた22歳のコメントを紹介。「僕らは勝利に値した」と語っている。

「個人的にもチームとしても勝利に値するもので、望んでいた決勝にたどり着いた。今はしっかりと休息を取って、日曜日(18日)に素晴らしい試合をしようと思う」
「国全体を含めて、僕らと同じように狂喜乱舞しているんじゃないかな。僕らは(優勝できるよう)すべてを尽くすよ」

36年ぶり3度目の優勝を目指すアルゼンチンは、18日の決勝戦でフランス代表vsモロッコ代表の勝者と対戦する。ここまで計4得点と、得点王も視野に入るアルバレス。ファイナルでも活躍が期待される。

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

メッシ 大好きなマテ茶のストローは7万円超えの特別仕様
