2019-20シーズンのチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)決勝、パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)vsバイエルンが日本時間8月23日28時からポルトガル・リスボンのエスタディオ・ダ・ルスで開催される。初のファイナル進出で悲願のビッグイヤー獲得を目指すフランス王者と、7年ぶり6度目の優勝を目指すドイツ王者による大一番を前に、ここまでの両チームの勝ち上がりを振り返っていく。

ブンデスリーガ7連覇を引っ提げて今大会に臨んだバイエルンは、昨季準優勝のトッテナム、セルビア王者ツルヴェナ・ズヴェズダ、ギリシャ王者のオリンピアコスという2強2弱のグループBに入った。

コバチ体制2年目の国内リーグでは指揮官の消極的な采配や、一部主力選手との確執により、序盤戦から取りこぼしが目立つ苦しい状況が続いた。それでも、CLの舞台ではツルヴェナ・ズヴェズダとの初戦を快勝で飾ると、第2節のトッテナム戦では元アーセナルのFWニャブリが慣れ親しんだロンドンの地で大暴れ。キャリア初の1試合4ゴールを挙げるなど、圧巻のパフォーマンスを見せて7-2の歴史的な大勝をもたらした。その後、オリンピアコスにも競り勝って3連勝でグループステージを折り返したが、リーグ戦の不振を受けて昨年11月初旬にコバチ監督を解任。フリック暫定監督にバトンが手渡された。

そして、フリック体制の初陣となったホームでのオリンピアコス戦を2-0の勝利で飾ったチームは、早々にグループステージ突破を決めると、翌節のツルヴェナ・ズヴェズダ戦ではニャブリに続き、主砲レヴァンドフスキが1試合4ゴールの大暴れを見せ、首位通過も確定。消化試合となった最終節ではモウリーニョに指揮官を交代したトッテナムを3-1で破り、今季のグループステージ唯一の全勝突破を果たした。

ウィンターブレイクを経て完全にフリック仕様の新たなチームに生まれ変わったバイエルンは、ラウンド16でトッテナムに続くロンドン勢のチェルシーと対戦。2011-12シーズンの決勝で敗れた因縁の相手に対して真価が試された中、2月末に行われた敵地での対戦ではMFアルフォンソ・デイビスという超新星が世界を震撼させる。

センターバックの相次ぐ負傷者に伴い、左サイドバックにコンバートされた19歳のカナダ代表は爆発的なスピードとテクニックを武器に、チェルシーの右サイドを文字通り、完全に切り裂いて見せた。そして、ドッペルパックのニャブリ、レヴァンドフスキというスコアラー2人を完全に食う衝撃的な活躍を披露し、3-0の先勝に大きく貢献した。

世界最高のクラックであるFWメッシを擁するバルセロナとの対戦は準々決勝屈指の注目カードとなったが、バイエルンはこの一戦で今季のハイライトと言える圧巻のパフォーマンスを披露した。

コロナ禍によって準々決勝以降のレギュレーションが中立地リスボンでのシングルマッチ方式の短期トーナメントに変更され、五分五分の勝負と思われた中、試合は予想だにしない展開となった。立ち上がりから強度、連動性、申し分ないハイプレスでバルセロナのビルドアップを機能不全に陥れたフリック率いるチームは、不運なオウンゴールで1点を与えたものの、MFミュラーのドッペルパックなど前半に4ゴールを奪う。

後半立ち上がりには2点差に詰め寄られたが、ここから再び攻撃のギアを上げると、超新星デイビスの驚愕の5人抜きアシストからMFキミッヒ、途中出場のMFコウチーニョの古巣相手の無慈悲なドッペルパックなどで突き放した。そして、グループステージのトッテナム戦を上回る、8-2のスコアで優勝候補を完膚なきまでに粉砕した。

◆抜群の安定感で大物食いリヨンをストップ!

戦前にはかつての指揮官であるグアルディオラ率いるマンチェスター・シティとの頂上対決が予想されたが、準決勝の対戦相手はユベントス、シティと2戦連続で大物食いを果たした伏兵リヨンとの対戦となった。

試合序盤にはハイラインの背後を執拗に狙う相手に対して、3度のビッグチャンスを作られる思わぬ入りに。それでも、守護神ノイアーを中心にこのピンチを無失点で凌ぐと、主砲レヴァンドフスキ同様に今大会での勝負強さが際立つニャブリが個の力で流れを変えた。18分に右サイドから鋭いカットインを見せると、強烈な左足のミドルシュートを叩き込み先制点を奪取。続く33分にはゴール前のこぼれ球を冷静に流し込み、流れを一気に引き寄せた。

後半はシステム、メンバーを細かく入れ替えて反撃を試みる相手に手を焼いたが、試合終了間際の88分には今季CL全試合ゴール中のレヴァンドフスキがキミッヒのFKを冷静に頭で合わせ、今季CL15点目を記録。ほぼ完璧な内容でリヨンの快進撃をストップし、7年ぶりのファイナル進出を決めた。
