プレミアリーグは22日、ジョン・テリー氏(43)とアンディ・コール氏(52)が殿堂入りしたことを発表した。
チェルシーでDFとして活躍したテリー氏は、5度のプレミアリーグ優勝に貢献。プレミアリーグ通算717試合に出場した。
一方、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドでストライカーとして活躍したA・コール氏も5度のプレミアリーグ優勝に貢献。プレミアリーグ通算415試合出場187ゴールを挙げた。
プレミアリーグ殿堂は2021年に創設。これまでデイビッド・ベッカムやエリック・カントナ、デニス・ベルカンプ、ティエリ・アンリ、アレックス・ファーガソンら1990年代と2000年代を代表する名手や名将22人が殿堂入りしてきた。

アーセナルが長年の呪縛を拭い去った。イギリス『90min』が伝えている。
アーセナルは12日、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)ラウンド16・2ndレグでポルトと戦い、1-0で勝利。2戦合計1-1で延長戦・PK戦までもつれ込んだ一戦を制し、準々決勝へ駒を進めた。
ミケル・アルテタ監督のもと、アーセン・ヴェンゲル長期政権時代末期やウナイ・エメリ時代と比べ物にならないほど強力な現アーセナル。
7年ぶりに挑むCLの舞台で、2009-10シーズン以来14年ぶりにラウンド16の壁を超え、ベスト8進出を掴み取ったのだ。(※1)

CL過去最高成績は2005-06シーズンの準優勝。ティエリ・アンリ氏やデニス・ベルカンプ氏、ジウベルト・シウバ氏にソル・キャンベル氏らを擁すも、決勝戦でバルセロナ相手に悲劇的な逆転負けを喫し、涙を呑んだ。
「46」もの国内タイトルを誇る一方、欧州ではUEFAカップウィナーズカップ(1993-94)、インターシティーズ・フェアーズカップ(1969-70)と、現在廃止されている非主要タイトルしか獲得経験のないアーセナル。
アルテタ体制下でますます洗練されてきた今季なら、プレミアリーグとCLの2冠も狙っていいだろう。

名だたる元選手たちが手を組み、イングランドクラブの買収を計画しているようだ。
イギリス『デイリー・メール』によると、買収を考えるクラブの名こそ伏せられたままだが、アーセナルのレジェンドOBとして語り継がれるデニス・ベルカンプ氏ら元選手がリーグ1(3部相当)、あるいはリーグ2(4部相当)のチームを狙っているという。
ベルカンプ氏以外の顔ぶれはというと、元リバプールのディルク・カイト現ベールスホット監督、セルティックやバルセロナ、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドなどを渡り歩いたヘンリク・ラーション氏、バルセロナOBのロナルド・クーマン現オランダ代表監督だ。
その計画が明るみとなったのはフットボールエージェントのロブ・ヤンセン氏が話した内容から。ポッドキャスト『Kieft Jansen Egmond Gijp』で、ベルカンプ氏がアカデミーを指導し、ラーション氏が監督になる絵も含め、こう証言したようだ。
「我々はイングランドのクラブを買収しようとしている。どのクラブかはまだ言えないがね。どんなグループかは言える。ロナルド・クーマン、デニス・ベルカンプ、ヘンリク・ラーション、そしてディルク・カイトだ」
「今はリーグ2か、リーグ1を検討している。周りの何人かと動いているところで、出資者もいる。ロンドンである必要はない。計画は広い意味でフットボールクラブを経営することにある」
「我々が考えるやり方でね。トレーニング、ホスピタリティ、マーチャンダイジング、マーケティング、すべてでだ。我々にはグループがあって、あと1人か、2人が加わるかもしれない」

現役時代はアヤックスやアーセナル、オランダ代表でストライカーとして活躍したデニス・ベルカンプ氏が紙幣になるようだ。イギリス『ミラー』が伝えた。
オランダの名門・アヤックスの下部組織出身で、ファーストチームでも3度の得点王に輝くなど大きな活躍を見せると、その後移籍したインテルではUEFAカップ(現ヨーロッパリーグ)のタイトル獲得に貢献。しかし、期待はずれの結果に終わると、1996年にアーセナルへと完全移籍した。
アーセナル移籍後は、アーセン・ヴェンゲル監督の下でチームの中心選手として活躍。元フランス代表FWティエリ・アンリらと黄金時代を築き、数かz区のタイトル獲得に貢献した。
名ストライカーの1人として知られ、テクニックに溢れるプレーはファンを魅了。その中でも記憶に残るゴールをいくつも記録している。
アーセナル時代のニューカッスル戦で決めた巧みなターンで相手DFと入れ替わるゴールは誰もが息を飲むゴールだが、1998年のフランス・ワールドカップ(W杯)準々決勝のアルゼンチン代表戦で見せたゴールも記憶に残っている人が多いはずだ。
1-1で迎えた中、延長戦に突入するかと思われた89分、自陣でボールを持ったフランク・デ・ブールが前線にロングフィードを送ると、ボックス内に走り込んだベルカンプが後方からのボールをいとも簡単にジャンピングトラップ。奪いにきたロベルト・アジャラをトラップの流れでかわし、ゴールに叩き込んだ。
『ミラー』によれば、このシーンとベルカンプ氏の顔が印刷された新紙幣が発行されるとのこと。オランダ財務省は、オランダ通貨の鋳造を担当するロイヤル・エンスヘーデ印刷会社に対し、特別な8ユーロ紙幣を製造するよう指示したという。当時のベルカンプの背番号「8」に由来しての8ユーロとなった。
これは記念紙幣となり、一般的に流通するものとは異なるとのこと。特別に限定で発売されるが、オランダ国民をはじめ、アヤックスやアーセナルなどのサポーターから問い合わせが殺到すると予測されている。

チェルシーのマウリシオ・ポチェッティーノ監督がU-21イングランド代表MFコール・パーマーについて語った。イギリス『イブニング・スタンダード』が伝えた。
マンチェスター・シティのアカデミー育ちでありながら、出場機会を求めて今夏チェルシーへと移籍したパーマー。リーグ開幕から徐々に出番を増やしていくと、今ではスタメンに定着し、先発した直近の公式戦7試合では3ゴール4アシストを記録している。
そんなパーマーが12日に挑むのはプレミアリーグ第12節の古巣シティ戦。指揮官のマウリシオ・ポチェッティーノ監督は、シティがこの生え抜きのアタッカーをチェルシーに放出したことについて自らの見解を述べている。
「今彼が良いパフォーマンスを発揮していて、シティであまりプレーしていなかったという理由だけで、驚いたと言うのはフェアではないと思う」
「我々は異なる2つのクラブであり、目指すところも違う。おそらく彼はチェルシーに合っているのだろう」
「(マテオ・)コバチッチはチェルシーからシティへと去ったが、何が起こったのかはわからない。この類の決断を下すのはいつだって難しいことだ」
また、パーマーの人目を引くプレーぶりはかつてチェルシーに在籍しヴィッセル神戸でプレーする元スペイン代表MFフアン・マタや、アーセナルで活躍した元オランダ代表FWデニス・ベルカンプ氏らと比較されているようだが、ポチェッティーノ監督は現在ベンフィカでプレーしているアルゼンチン代表MFアンヘル・ディ・マリアの名を出した。

プレミアリーグは3日、レジェンド3人が『Hall of Fame(殿堂入り)』に選出されたことを発表した。
今回、新たに殿堂入りを果たしたのは、元イングランド代表DFリオ・ファーディナンド氏、元チェコ代表GKペトル・チェフ氏、元イングランド代表DFトニー・アダムス氏の3名となる。
今回の3名は世界中のファンによるオンライン投票と15人の候補から選考委員会によって選出された。
ファーディナンド氏は、ウェストハム、リーズ・ユナイテッド、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドでセンターバックとして活躍。プレミアリーグで504試合に出場し11ゴール8アシスト。守備面では189試合のクリーンシートを達成。6度のプレミアリーグ優勝をユナイテッドで達成していた。
17歳でハリー・レドナップ監督の下、ウェストハムでデビュー。その後の活躍は知っての通りだ。
チェフ氏は、チェルシーとアーセナルでプレー。プレミアリーグで443試合に出場し202回のクリーンシートを達成した。
アシストも2つ記録しており、4度のプレミアリーグ優勝。ゴールデングローブも4回受賞している。
スパルタ・プラハから加入したデビューシーズンの2004-05シーズンは、35試合でクリーンシートを24試合達成。これは現在も1シーズンのGK記録となっている。また、202試合のクリーンシートはリーグ史上最多でもある。
アダムス氏はアーセナル一筋でプレーした偉大なキャプテンであり、ディフェンスリーダー。255試合に出場し、12ゴール9アシスト。クリーンシートは115回。プレミアリーグのタイトルは2回獲得している。
1983年にアーセナルでデビューし、プレミアリーグ発足前にも2度優勝を経験。フル出場した試合の48.5%がクリーンシートで、これは200試合以上出場している選手で最も高い確率となっている。
1992年に創設されたプレミアリーグはすでに約30年の歴史を刻んできている。そして、同リーグは昨年にこれまでの数十年間で同リーグの輝かしい歴史に貢献を果たしてきた偉大なプレーヤーたちを称える目的で『Hall of Fame』の創設を決定した。
ここまでアラン・シアラー氏、ティエリ・アンリ氏の初代殿堂入りの2名を含め、多くの名だたるレジェンドが選出。今年は、元マンチェスター・ユナイテッド監督のサー・アレックス・ファーガソン氏、元アーセナル監督のアーセン・ヴェンゲル氏が既に殿堂入りしており、この3名が加わることとなる。

元アーセナル指揮官のアーセン・ヴェンゲル氏が、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドとのライバル関係を懐かしんだ。イギリス『ミラー』が伝えている。
ヴェンゲル氏は1996年から2018年にかけて22年間アーセナルを指揮。チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)優勝には届かなかったが、プレミアリーグを3度、FAカップとEFLカップをそれぞれ7度制覇するなど、クラブに多くのタイトルをもたらした。
なかでも元フランス代表のMFパトリック・ヴィエラ氏やFWティエリ・アンリ氏、元オランダ代表FWデニス・ベルカンプ氏らを擁した2000年代初頭はまさに黄金期。2003-04シーズンには伝説の無敗優勝を成し遂げている。
あの時代からおよそ20年。29日にプレミアリーグの殿堂入りが発表されたヴェンゲル氏は当時を懐かしみ、自らのチームの中軸に据えたヴィエラ氏と、何度も覇権を争ったユナイテッドの主将ロイ・キーン氏の激しいライバル関係こそ、両チームのライバル関係を象徴するものだったと振り返った。
「プレミアリーグにとって完璧とも言えるライバル関係だ。この2人の男はピッチ上で常にお互いを探し、自らの誇りと威信を賭けて戦った。誰もそこに介入しようとは思わなかったよ。アーセナルとユナイテッド…いつしか2つのクラブのライバル関係を象徴するものとなった」
「今の私はそんな彼らをテレビで見ているわけだが、どうやら『完璧なライバル』から『完璧な友達』になったようだ。ちょっと信じがたいね(笑) 以前の2人はボクサーがお互いを殺し合うかのようだったのに」
両者がピッチ上で顔を合わせたのは2004-05シーズンが最後。ヴィエラ氏は2005年夏にユベントスへ移籍し、キーン氏は2005-06シーズン開幕後にユナイテッドとの契約を解除。その後、両者はホテルで一緒にアイスクリームを食べるなどして和解していったとのことだ。
かつてはピッチ上での乱闘のみならず、試合開始前に口論がヒートアップした「トンネル事件」も有名なヴィエラ氏とキーン氏。ファンのみならず、ヴェンゲル氏のような当事者にとっても美しい思い出となっているようだ。

アーセナルがエミレーツ・スタジアムに誕生した新たなマスコットの愛称を募っている。
今週の頭は強い寒気に伴い、イギリスの広範囲にわたって積雪をもたらした。
11日に行われたFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)第10節では、マンチェスター・シティのMF長谷川唯もフル出場を果たした"マンチェスター・ダービー"がリーグ歴代2位となる44259人の観客を集めた一方、2試合がピッチ凍結で延期となった。
12日のロンドンは交通網に影響に出るほどだったが、アーセナルの女子チームは積もった雪に大はしゃぎ。ブラジル女子代表DFラファエレ・ソウザは、半袖半ズボンで新雪にダイブし、スノーエンジェルを作り上げた。
また、本拠地エミレーツ・スタジアムには雪だるまが登場。公式ツイッターは14日、ニット帽にタオルマフラーを纏った新たなマスコットの名前を募集した。
「グーナーズ、雪だるまの名前が必要です! 皆さんの意見を聞かせてください (駄洒落をお勧めします)」
この投稿に応えるように「ロッキー・スノーキャッスル」のように素直な命名のほか、現役選手や歴代選手をもじったジョークも多数届いた。
「フリーザー・マーナム(フリーダ・マーナム)」、「イアン・ホワイト(イアン・ライト)」、「エミール・スミス=スノウ(エミール・スミス・ロウ)」以外にも、アイスマンのニックネームでも知られたFWを参考に「デニス・アイスベルカンプ(デニス・ベルカンプ)」と提案するファンもいた。
気温とは異なり、熱気を帯びているアーセナル女子。15日のUEFA女子チャンピオンズリーグのグループステージ第5節リヨン戦は、心強い新キャラクターも見守るエミレーツで行われる。アーセナルは引き分け以上で決勝トーナメント進出が決定する。

カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)もいよいよ残すところ準々決勝、準決勝、3位決定戦、決勝となった。
残り約1週間となった今大会。ベスト8を目指した日本代表は残念ながら敗退となったが、残された8カ国はどこが優勝してもおかしくない実力国だ。
準々決勝の対戦カードもどちらが勝ってもおかしくない対決ばかり。その中で、これまで多くのレジェンドを輩出し、W杯で何度も対戦しているのがオランダ代表vsアルゼンチン代表だ。
最も直近では、2014年のブラジルW杯。準決勝で対戦すると、PK戦の末にアルゼンチンが勝利を収めていた。
当時を知るルイス・ファン・ハール監督が率い、ステファン・デ・フライやデイリー・ブリントは今大会もメンバーとしている。
W杯で見れば、1974年が最初の対戦に。続いて1978年、1998年、2006年と対戦し、今回がなんと6度目の対戦となる。
グループステージでの対戦は1974年と2006年の2回。それ以外は、ノックアウトステージでの対戦となり、アルゼンチンが勝ったのは1978年の延長戦と、2014年のPK戦のみという結果だ。
その中でも印象深いゴールは1998年の準々決勝での対戦ではないだろうか。
日本が初めて出場したフランスW杯。グループステージでも同居したアルゼンチンが戦った試合だが、この試合で決勝ゴールを決めたのがオランダ代表FWデニス・ベルカンプだ。
アヤックスやインテル、アーセナルでプレーしたベルカンプ。当時はアーセナルに所属していたが、1-1で迎えた中、延長戦に突入するかと思われた89分に衝撃のゴールを決める。
自陣でボールを持ったフランク・デ・ブールが前線にロングフィードを送ると、ボックス内に走り込んだベルカンプが後方からのボールをいとも簡単にトラップ。奪いにきたロベルト・アジャラをトラップの流れでかわし、ゴールに叩き込んだのだ。
デ・ブールの正確なロングフィードはもちろんのこと、後方からのボールwジャンプしながらトラップし、着地と同時に奪いに来たアジャラをボールを叩きつけてかわしてのシュート。今見えても技術の高さがわかるスーパーゴールだ。
なお、ここで勝利したオランダは、準決勝でブラジル代表にPK戦の末に敗れると、3位決定戦ではクロアチア代表に敗れて4位で大会を終えていた。

エバートンのオランダ代表MFドニー・ファン・デ・ベークの娘ロミーちゃんがお爺ちゃんと対面した。
ファン・デ・ベークはアヤックス時代の2019年からエステル・ベルカンプさんと交際をスタートさせ、今年4月に第1子となるロミーちゃんが誕生したばかりだ。恋人のエステルさんはアヤックスやアーセナルで活躍したデニス・ベルカンプ氏の愛娘でもある。
今シーズンはマンチェスター・ユナイテッドからのレンタル移籍でエバートンに加入。プレミアリーグ最終節では、義父の古巣アーセナルの現在の本拠地エミレーツ・スタジアムに乗り込んだ。
エステルさんのインスタグラムによると、この試合をロミーちゃんも観戦に訪れていた模様。エミレーツ・スタジアムにあるベルカンプ氏の銅像とロミーちゃんが対面する微笑ましい様子を投稿している。
生後約1カ月のロミーちゃんにとって初のスタジアム観戦となった試合では、エバートンは敗れたものの父ファン・デ・ベークは見事にゴール。ロミーちゃんはさすがに覚えていないかもしれないが、一家にとって忘れられない思い出になったのではないだろうか。
