バーミンガム・シティのMF三好康児が劇的な決勝ゴールをマークした。
バーミンガムは16日、ハル・シティとのFAカップ3回戦再試合をホームで行い、2-1で勝利を収めた。
12分に先制を許したものの、途中出場ジェイ・スタンスフィールドのゴールで66分に同点に。そして迎えた後半アディショナルタイム3分、同じく途中出場の三好が値千金のゴールを挙げる。
バーミンガムは右サイドでの組み立て中に一度は失うものの、すぐさまプレスをかけて奪い返し、右深い位置へボールが出る。スタンスフィールドが追い付き、グラウンダーで折り返すと、ニアへ入った三好が右足で合わせる。一度目のシュートは当たり損なったものの、こぼれ球を自ら蹴り込み、チームを勝利へ導いた。
63分の5枚替えが的中したトニー・モウブレイ監督は、イギリス『BBC』にて「前半のプレーは求めていた激しさが足りなかったが、チームの半数を交代したことで、チームに必要な力を与えることができた」と、交代選手が活力を与えてくれたと評価した。
三好の劇的弾で勝利したバーミンガムは、27日の4回戦でレスター・シティと対戦する。

バーミンガム・シティのMF三好康児が今季3ゴール目を記録した。
今シーズンからチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)のバーミンガムへと完全移籍した三好。ロイヤル・アントワープの最後のシーズンはケガで長期離脱するなど苦しい時期を過ごしたが、新天地ではしっかりと出番を確保している。
今シーズンは公式戦全試合に出場。結果が出ずにチームは苦しんでいる中、11日に行われたサンダーランド戦でも結果を残した。
右サイドで先発した三好は1-0で迎えた30分にゴールを記録する。
ボックス内への三好の縦パスにジェイ・スタンスフィールドが反応。このパスはブロックされるが、こぼれ球を拾ったスタンスフィールドがボックス右からグラウンダーのパス。これに走り込んだ三好が左足でダイレクトシュートを叩き込んだ。
絶妙なポジション取りからゴールを決めた三好。ウェイン・ルーニー監督も喜びを見せていたが、チームはその後に2失点。3-1で敗れ、5試合未勝利と結果がまた出ない状況が続いている。
地元紙の『バーミンガム・メール』は三好に6点(10点満点)の評価を与え、「今季3点目となる好フィニッシュで貢献。後半に試合から姿を消し、トラブルに見舞われたり、異常に悪いタッチをし続けた」と、前後半でパフォーマンスに差があったことを指摘している。
