アーセナルの新星ゼラレム、アメリカ代表でのプレーを選択へ

▽アーセナルに所属するMFジェディオン・ゼラレム(18)が、今後アメリカ代表としてプレーすることを選択したようだ。イギリス『ガーディアン』が報じている。

▽エチオピア人の両親を持つゼラレムは、1997年にドイツのベルリンで生まれた。そのため、これまではドイツ代表としてU-15、U-16、U-17のカテゴリーでプレーしてきた。だが、同選手は9歳のときに移住したアメリカのメリーランドで6年間を過ごしており、昨年12月にはアメリカの市民権を取得していた。

▽両親の母国エチオピアと出生地のドイツに加え市民権を得たアメリカと、3カ国の代表としてプレーする資格があるゼラレムだが、最終的にアメリカ代表としてプレーすることを決めたようだ。

▽『ガーディアン』は13日、ゼラレムがアメリカ代表として来月から開催されるFIFA・U-20ワールドカップに参加すると報じた。また、今後アメリカのフル代表でプレーする意向があることも併せて伝えている。

▽2013年にアーセナルのアカデミーに加入したゼラレムは、卓越したパスセンスを武器とする若きプレーメーカー。すでに昨シーズンのFAカップのコベントリー戦でトップチームデビューを飾っている同選手は、今季のチャンピオンズリーグのガラタサライ戦にも出場している。

W杯2連覇の米女子代表ジル・エリス監督が退任

美女ストライカーが妊娠! アメリカ女子代表FWモーガンがSNSで発表

癌でもサッカーを続ける少年へ…プリシッチが“芋虫”パフォーマンスの理由を打ち明ける
