元イングランド代表MFデイビッド・ベッカム氏のシューズへのこだわりが感じられるようだ。イングランド代表やマンチェスター・ユナイテッド、レアル・マドリーなどでプレーをし、至高のキックで観衆を虜にしてきたベッカム氏。その足元を支えてきたのは家族と、アディダスのスパイクだ。
『COMPLEX』でシューズショッピング企画に出演したベッカム氏。アディダスのアイコンともいえるプレーメーカーは、スニーカーにも並々ならぬこだわりを示しているが、スパイクに話が及ぶと、さらに熱が入る。

日韓ワールドカップ(W杯)で着用した日本語の刺繍入りスパイクをはじめ、これまでベッカムが着用したスパイクがずらり。お気に入りの一足を訪ねられると「好きな子供は誰かって尋ねるようなものだよ」と、悩ましげだ。その中でも、ユナイテッドで1998-99シーズンにイングランド・サッカー史上初となるトレブルを達成した、黒と白のストライプの一足を選出した。

「このスパイクは(ユナイテッドの栄光という)素晴らしい記憶を呼び起こさせる。これを履いてとても素晴らしい季節を過ごしたものだ。この靴のすべてが気に入っている。だからもし、どれかを選べと言われたら、この一足でなくちゃね」
アディダスの『プレデター』シリーズを着用し続けてきたベッカム氏。それはすなわち、自身のキャリアとプレデターの進化がともに歩んできたことを意味する。デザイン、機能性など、使い続けてきたからこそわかるポイントも多々あるようだ。

「ずっとこれだけを履いていたから、僕のキャリアはプレデターとともにあった。ピンクを選ぶのにはちょっと勇気が必要だったけど、とてもエキサイティングだった。スパイクの進化はすごいね。紐なしには懐疑的だったんだけど、履いてみたら驚きだったよ」

アーセナルやエバートンで活躍したケビン・キャンベル氏が54歳で逝去…

15日、アーセナルやエバートンはOBの元イングランド人FWケビン・キャンベル氏が54歳で亡くなったと発表した。 ジャマカにルーツを持つキャンベル氏は、アーセナル下部組織出身のストライカーで、18歳時の1988年にファーストチームデビュー。レンタル移籍も経験しながら1995年まで在籍し、クラブ通算228試合に出場し59ゴールを記録した。 その後はノッティンガム・フォレスト、トラブゾンスポルと渡り歩き、1999年にエバートンへレンタル移籍。完全移籍に切り替わると、黒人選手としてクラブ史上初のキャプテンも務めた。 エバートンでは2005年までプレーし、通算164試合51ゴールを記録。ウェスト・ブロムウィッチ・アルビオン(WBA)、カーディフ・シティでキャリア晩年を過ごし、2007年に現役を引退した。 引退後はメディア上で解説者としても活躍。なお、息子のタイリース・キャンベルもプロサッカー選手で、チャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)のストーク・シティに在籍している。 エバートンは5月に、キャンベル氏が大病を患い、入院していることを報告。「非常に体調が悪い」と発表していた。また、アーセナルは「元ストライカーのケビン・キャンベルが短い闘病の末に亡くなったと知り、大きな悲しみに暮れている」としており、病に臥したことを伝えている。 2024.06.15 22:04 Sat

「みんな同じに見える」ソン・フンミンへの差別発言をチームメイトが謝罪…ウルグアイ代表MF「酷いジョークだった」

トッテナムのウルグアイ代表MFロドリゴ・ベンタンクールが、韓国代表FWソン・フンミンに対する人種差別発言を謝罪した。 2022年1月にユベントスからトッテナムに加入したベンタンクール。2023-24シーズンはプレミアリーグで23試合に出場し1ゴールを記録していた。 そのベンタンクールはウルグアイ『Canal 10』の番組「Por La Camiseta」に出演。司会者のラファ・コテロ氏から選手のユニフォームを求められたが、その際の反応が問題となった。 ベンタンクールは「ソニーの?みんな同じように見えるから、ソニーの従兄弟かもしれないよ」とコメント。韓国人は似たような顔をしているからというジョークを口にしたつもりだった。 しかし、この動画がSNSで拡散されると、人種差別的な発言だと大炎上。ベンタンクールは、自身のインスタグラムのストーリーズで騒動を謝罪した。 「ブラザー、ソニー。起こってしまったことに謝罪する。あれはただの酷いジョークだった」 「僕が君を愛していることは知っていると思うし、君や他の誰かを軽視したり、傷つけたりすることは絶対にない!愛しているよ、ブラザー」 ベンタンクールは軽はずみな発言をしてしまったが、思わぬ炎上で謝罪。ただ、これに対してソン・フンミンは返事を送っていない。 2024.06.15 21:55 Sat
