【プレミアリーグ第25節プレビュー】連敗同士のマージーサイド・ダービー! 首位シティはアーセナルと激突

先週末に行われた前節は、レスターvsリバプールやマンチェスター・シティvsトッテナムのビッグマッチが並んだ中で、リバプールは逆転負け、首位シティは3発快勝を収めたことで、両クラブの勝ち点差はさらに広がることになった。

今節は週半ばにチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)とヨーロッパリーグ(EL)の決勝トーナメントがスタートし、ビッグクラブにとっては厳しい日程に。そんな第25節では、前節に続いてビッグマッチが2つ予定されている。

そのひとつはリバプールとエバートンによるマージーサイド・ダービーだ。リバプールはリーグ戦3連敗、かたやミッドウィークにシティに敗れたエバートンは2連敗と、互いに不調に苦しんでいる。リバプールに関しては直近8試合で5敗しており、2019年から2020年の間の72試合(54勝13分け5敗)に匹敵。それでも選手たちはレスター戦は悪い内容ではなかったと口を揃える。

それを根拠づけるように、CLではブンデスリーガで好調のライプツィヒ相手に0-2で快勝。一旦負の連鎖を断ち切って迎えるエバートン戦は、全コンペティションにおいて過去23試合で11勝12分け無敗。リバプールにとっては最も長く負けていない相手だが、プレミアリーグでは24回引き分けており、最もドローの多い対戦カードとなっている。一方、リーグ戦4試合ぶりの白星を目指すエバートンだが、現状アウェイ戦に限れば7戦無敗だ。

もうひとつのビッグマッチはアーセナルvsシティ。現在10位のアーセナルは前節のリーズ戦でリーグ戦4試合ぶりの勝利を収めたが、ELのベンフィカ戦は1-1のドロー。不安定な戦いを続けている。それでもオーバメヤンは、リーグ戦で先発した直近2試合(ニューカッスル戦、リーズ戦)では共に2ゴールを挙げており、シティ戦でも同様の成績を収めることできれば、アーセナル史上初の選手となる。

対するシティはエバートン戦の勝利で公式戦17連勝。2位のユナイテッドとの勝ち点差を10に広げて首位のを快走している。アーセナル戦はリーグでは7連勝中で、その中でここ5試合はスターリングが4ゴール2アシストを記録しており、最後の3試合はいずれもゴールを決めている。また、グアルディオラ監督にとって日曜日開催のプレミアリーグは今回で50試合目。戦績は32勝8分け9敗となっており、同リーグにおいて、日曜日に最低10試合指揮した経験のある監督の中では最高の勝率(65%)となっている。

2位のユナイテッドはホームでニューカッスルと対戦。リーグ戦では2試合連続で引き分けているが、ELではスペインで5位につけるソシエダに0-4で快勝した。ニューカッスルとはプレミアリーグの過去5試合で4勝1敗で、過去2試合は共に4-1で勝利している。また、オールド・トラフォードでニューカッスルに敗れたのは35試合で一度のみ。その一戦は2013年12月まで遡る。さらに相手のスティーブ・ブルース監督にとっても鬼門のスタジアムとなっており、プレミアリーグにおいて獲得可能だった33ポイントのうち、実際に獲得したのは、2009年10月にサンダーランドを率いて引き分けた1ポイントのみだ。

3位のレスターは8位のアストン・ビラとのアウェイ戦に臨む。前節は王者相手に見事な逆転勝利を収め、2位のユナイテッドと勝ち点で並んだ。ELではフルメンバーでスラビア・プラハに挑み0-0のドロー。疲労が懸念されるところだが、指揮官のブレンダン・ロジャーズは監督としてアストン・ビラに100%の勝利を誇る。また、エースのヴァーディは30歳からここまでリーグ戦99ゴールに関与しているが(81ゴール18アシスト)、30歳以降で100ゴールに関わった選手は、テディ・シェリンガム、イアン・ライト、フランク・ランパード、アラン・シアラー、ジャンフランコ・ゾラの5人のみとなっている。

4チェルシーは南野拓実のサウサンプトンのホームに乗り込む。トゥヘル監督初采配のウルブス戦以降、リーグ戦では4勝1分け無敗で見事に立て直し、順位も4位に浮上した。敵地でのサウサンプトン戦は過去28試合で21勝5分け2敗となっている。

「美しいユニフォーム」「これは好き」ドルトムントが本拠地の50周年を祝った特別ユニフォームを発表! 喜ぶファンからは悲鳴も「何枚買わせるつもりだ」

「相手に恐怖を与える赤」ストイコビッチ監督率いるセルビアがユーロ用のユニフォームを発表!アウェイは「大会で最も優れたデザインの 1 つ」

「有刺鉄線?」珍しいストライプには困惑も?前回大会8強のスイスがユーロ用の新ユニフォームを発表

チェコ代表がユーロ用の新ユニフォームを発表!アウェイは史上最強と名高い2004年のデザインをイメージ
