【プレミアリーグ第8節プレビュー】シティとリバプールが激突! エバートンvsユナイテッドの好カードも

前節はエバートンとアストン・ビラがともに2敗目を喫し、その隙に5勝目を挙げたリバプールとレスター・シティがトップへ浮上。ここ2節でそのエバートンとアストン・ビラを立て続けに下したサウサンプトンは5位につけ、好調を維持している。また、前節一のビッグマッチとなったマンチェスター・ユナイテッドvsアーセナルは、オーバメヤンのゴールでアーセナルに軍配。ユナイテッドはここまでわずか2勝と低調なスタートとなった。

それからチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)とヨーロッパリーグ(EL)を挟んで迎える第8節は、昨季2位のマンチェスター・シティと王者リバプールが激突。シティはCLではオリンピアコス戦の快勝で開幕3連勝とし、グループステージ突破に大きく前進したが、リーグ戦ではここまで連勝はなく、この一戦で初の連勝を目指す。一方、今季リーグ戦2度目の3連勝を目指すリバプールは、CLではアタランタにアウェイで5発大勝を収め公式戦5連勝中。その一戦では新戦力のジョタがハットトリックを達成し、リーグ戦でのさらなる活躍が期待が高まった。

今回の舞台となるエティハド・スタジアムでの成績は、シティが3連勝中で合計スコアも11-1と圧倒。リバプール側から見ても、シティ戦はホーム・アウェイ含めここ10試合で1勝しか挙げられておらず、合計26失点で1勝2分け7敗と大きく負け越している現状だ。今回もシティが勝てば、1937年3月以来のリバプール戦ホーム4連勝となる。

今節はエバートンvsユナイテッドの好カードも開催。エバートンは現在2連敗中だが、昨季のユナイテッド戦はホーム・アウェイともに1-1のドローに終わっており、一昨シーズンには本拠地グディソン・パークで4-0と圧勝している。

対するユナイテッドは現状15位に沈んでおり、CLではイスタンブールBBSKに敗れ、スールシャール監督の風当たりは強くなっている。しかしリーグ戦に目を向けると、ことアウェイ戦は6連勝中で、この試合で勝利すれば、1993年の4月から8月にかけて達成したクラブ記録に並ぶことになる。さらにユナイテッドにとってエバートンは、プレミアリーグにおいて最もアウェイで白星を挙げている相手で、3試合の出場停止明けのマルシャルの復帰も追い風に3勝目を狙う。

そのユナイテッドを前節下したアーセナルは、ホームにアストン・ビラを迎え撃つ。EL含めて公式戦3連勝と上昇気流に乗っており、リーグ戦でここまで最小失点を誇る守備陣にダビド・ルイスが復帰。また、攻撃面ではオーバメヤンが日曜開催の試合を得意としており、これまでアプレミアリーグで記録した全56得点のうち62.5%が日曜日に生まれたものだという。なお、今年7月の対戦ではアストン・ビラが勝利しており、1998年以来の2連勝を目指している。

そのほかでは、2位レスターと6位ウォルバーハンプトンの上位対決にも注目。直近のリーグ戦ではアーセナルとリーズ・ユナイテッドを下しているレスターは、ELも含めると公式戦5連勝中と好調だ。ホームでのウルブズ戦は過去23試合で13勝9分け1敗と圧倒しており、最後の黒星は当時チャンピオンシップで対決した2007年5月まで遡る。

「美しいユニフォーム」「これは好き」ドルトムントが本拠地の50周年を祝った特別ユニフォームを発表! 喜ぶファンからは悲鳴も「何枚買わせるつもりだ」

「相手に恐怖を与える赤」ストイコビッチ監督率いるセルビアがユーロ用のユニフォームを発表!アウェイは「大会で最も優れたデザインの 1 つ」

「有刺鉄線?」珍しいストライプには困惑も?前回大会8強のスイスがユーロ用の新ユニフォームを発表

チェコ代表がユーロ用の新ユニフォームを発表!アウェイは史上最強と名高い2004年のデザインをイメージ
