ボタフォゴSPは、昨シーズン限りでヴィッセル神戸を退団していたFWウェリントン(31)の加入を発表した。
ウェリントンはインテルナシオナウでキャリアをスタートさせ、ホッフェンハイムやトゥベンテなどの欧州でもプレー2013年夏の湘南ベルマーレ入り後、アビスパ福岡を経て、2018年から神戸に加入した。
パワー系ストライカーとしてJ1リーグ通算88試合19得点、J2リーグ92試合46得点を記録したウェリントンだが、神戸加入後は外国人選手枠の問題もあり、出番が限定的で、昨年限りで退団した。
ウェリントンはJリーグでの5シーズンで149試合に出場し54ゴールを記録。チームとしては得点源として期待しているようだ。
ウェリントンは「昨年ブラジルに戻ってセリエAでプレーする機会があったが、日本でもう1シーズン残った。そこでボタフォゴのユニフォームを着る可能性が出てきた。このチャンスに満足しており、クラブにとってベストを尽くす」とコメントしている。

来日5年‥家族も2人増えたイニエスタの妻が改めて心境を綴る「この冒険を一緒に生き続けることは光栄です!」
